Hi HU. I know it's Christmas and a time to celebrate. However, let's not forget those in the world, who won't be celebrating the festive period. Give a minute of your time to Pray for those less fortunate than us.
Regards Paul
Heavenly Father,
Today we stand before you with sad eyes and thoughts of all the brothers and sisters in pain worldwide.
In poor nations, where hunger and disease are the norm, we hope for an end to the suffering. Please provide them with clean water, good food, and medical care.
In conflict zones where violence is commonplace, we hope that peace prevails. May the bombs give way to children’s laughter. Be kind to the brokenhearted, heal the brokenhearted, and give hope to the hopeless.
Amid natural disasters, we ask for perseverance. Please provide them with the resources and the assistance they need to rebuild their lives.
Please shower your blessings on all who need them. I hope they know your kindness.
Amen.

On the 4th Advent Sunday I sent a special email to my 3 adult children telling them about my experience of prayer and the subsequent beneficial coincidences I have experienced. Spiritual growth all initiated by my original AF diagnosis...so grateful!
We are the fortunate that struggle not to grow fat, while the rest of the world starves.
I haven't posted any Christmas cards this year, instead that money has gone to help people who are desperate to just survive. One thing that makes me aware of our wealth is to wonder how we would explain, to those who have very little, our need for lamp shades.
We, who are alive today, are directly descended, without a break, from the very first life forms. And, if that's not stunning enough, we dwell among billions of solar systems in an infinite universe. Give us the wisdom to daily wonder how amazing life on earth is.
And a wisdom to know that there is a higher being, than us, who created this amazing miracle of the infinite universe and gave us this amazing life on earth. To give thanks for sharing it’s beauty with us.
Warm thoughts, Paul, and I send warm thoughts back in return.
I suspect strongly that the help civilisation needs will not come from divine intervention. If it does come, and if it comes in time, which is looking less and less likely, then it will be from a combination of scientific advancement and our learning to live a different kind of life, one in which we consume and pollute very much less.
I think the help this dying world needs will come from the Creator of the universe. The end is explained to us by Jesus in the Bible, which is precisely what is happening now. I don’t think man is powerful enough to restore the human race. He has certainly made a disaster in trying and will never learn to “live a different kind of life” in the climate of today.
This is my Christian perspective. The truth will set you free.
Let's hope so. I have an ablation to look forward to! My AF and ectopics are not massively uncomfortable and I do wonder wether an ablation is the best - but I suspect I shall be guided to have it when the time comes.
On wars, yes - How and why some leaders still feel that it is a way to achieve their desires leaves me very saddened.
You know what Steve. I hope humankind does learn to live a different kind of life and stop polluting the earth. It's just not going to happen just yet - maybe given time we won't have any choice!
Well, whatever your beliefs or non beliefs, I think Paul's main message here is to spare a thought for those less fortunate. Hopefully, no one has a problem doing that, whether it be by thought or prayer.
I agree. We should practice helping others 365 days a year - not just at Christmas. However, we should also remember others who don't have the luxuries we have this Christmas. I had food to eat (too much!) and a warm bed to sleep in. I have clean drinking water and a roof over my head.
Millions of people in the world don't have one of these 'luxuries'.
Agree...However what is troubling me is that some of those painful realities could be solved but it is no because of humanity missing in some of the more powerful humans (?) in the planet. 😔
Amen Paul. Even with all of my health issues, I am still acutely aware that many in this World are a good deal worse off than I am, for many reasons. It's good to remember that.x
For the first time this year, our whole family contributed to a needy family as a group. This is out of gratitude to the Greatest Gift Giver. We are so blessed.
