Nebivolol 2.5mg

I started Nebivolol for my AFIB about one month ago for my heart rate! I like the drug but seem to have a lot of gas on my stomach! Has anyone else had this problem?

I’ve taken Nebivolol 2.5 mgs daily for 5 years and of the various beta blockers I’ve had, including Atenolol and Bisoprolol, I would say it’s the one that has suited me best. And no, no wind.

I wonder if it’s worth asking your GP if you can take it at night?

She did mention that , I might have to consider that ! Thank you!

I take mine at teatime. I don’t think I had any digestive issues when I started it, only made my bp erratic for about a week

No. Been on it for several years.

Thank you! What dose do you take! I do like this med because it does not make me dizzy like other meds has!

Originally 5mg for aabaut sjx months then was on 2.5 for a couple of years but cutting down to 1.25 and hopefully stop completely one day. HR generally well within limits with PM supporting bottom end.

If you stop what meds would you take for replacing this one?

Nothing. Dates from before my atrial tachycardia ablation. HR mid 90 s after procedure, now mid 70s to low 60s . BP now well sorted and only taking 25mg losartan to placate my GP down from 200mg. Average 125/70.

I have read quite a few online studies that point to losartan (and similar) being well worth taking for its long-term "cardio-protective" effects (i.e. rather than to reduce an existing high BP). I have been prescribed 100mg / day for that reason since 2020 and haven't noticed any symptoms except a lower BP (often 120/65).

Agreed Steve. I did stop it for a while with no marked change in my BP but GP suggested it was a good thing.

Losartan is also good for kidneys

The heart and kidneys do seem to be very closely linked. I was expecting a much greater effect from mine but I barely noticed I was taking it.

That's interesting, as I've been told the complete opposite by my GP! Have to have regular blood tests to ensure good kidney function as Losartan affects kidneys, detrimentally.

I've been taking 2.5mg Nebivolol for about 6 years with no problems.

I originally took Nebivolol 5 mg for three years, then after MiniMaze cut it down to 2.5. Still take it today with no problems to keep my heart rate where it was pre surgery. Doc said it was ok to stay on if I want. Hr isn’t high just higher than I like. My own preference. I take it in the morning and never had any gas

I changed from 10mg Bisoprolol to 5mg Nebivolol, originally now on 2.5mg, no issues at all.
