Don't forget our own helpline (AF Association) .
I’ve found this forum amazing bob. I feel so let down by the doctors in my case at the moment. The GP actually overlooked the letter from a consultant prescribing me flecainide. I chased them up yesterday but everything is done at a snails pace. I’ve been in af since Saturday. It’s not horrendous HR has been up to around 160 but I took extra bisoporol. It’s now around 85-100. I’d rather go to hell than go to A&E and to get a doctors appointment is weeks of a job. Ive no idea who ‘I’m under’ cardiology wise. The telephone app I had 3 weeks ago was shocking. Very blunt and couldn’t wait to get off the phone. I asked him if there was a ‘cardiac nurse’ I could speak to should the next episode occur. He said no, you’ve just got to sit it out’
I have spoken to the BHF nurses a few times and the AFA helpline. Brilliant advice given and its sometimes good to have someone talk through a problem with you without the constrictions on time you get with GP's and consultants. Brilliant service.
I rang BHF nurse yesterday and spoke to a very caring helpful nurse. She reassured me and explained things so all good with me. Reason for call the helpline was because I had to have an emergency Cardioversion on Monday morning as I had very fast AF ((HR 140) overnight Sunday and my flecainide wouldnt stop it. Hence dr sent me to A&E!Its good to know that there is someone who you can get through to for advice.

Good post as the service helplines of both AFA & BHF are worth knowing about.
Thank you. Handy to know.
Thank you for posting this. My doctor is good but like you say doesn't have the time to talk me through any fears/issues I have so this is a very good service. Thankyou for bringing this to our attention. This is a great forum which I find very helpful.
Thank you for sharing this, sometimes we need to speak directly to someone and these people should have specific knowledge that our GPs don't necessarily have.
You can also call your arrhythmia nurses, if you are lucky enough to have them. Papworth's are awesome
no nothing I’m aware of. I asked the consultant and he wasn’t helpful at all

Hi Sam,
Why can’t we link to the BHF forum on HUL, I’m responding here as we all need to know. This whole post may as well be deleted as it doesn’t make sense now and it was really helpful as others have replied.
You also removed my tag to TracyAdmin
This seems a bit overkill on moderation to me.
Best wishes
Just to be clear, the reply above is not my reply. I added a link to the BHF forum “about” page but it would appear that is not allowed.
