Hi All, just waiting for transport to arrive here at Admitting at St. Francis hospital in Hartford CT. It is 11:08 am, ablation scheduled for 1 pm. Kardia said I was in normal rhythm so hoping I won't need an oesophageal wotsit. Will keep you posted.
Thanks.

Just seen your post, afafaf. You should be out by the time you read this- well done! Hope it went really well and that it has wholly successful results. Looking forward to hearing that you need to change your user name
It's now 12:25am, have completed my two walks up and down the corridor so can leave tomorrow morning. I had some mild discomfort when I first woke up but that is more or less gone now. Just keeping an eye on the two entry sites either side on my groins a d about to get my head down.
HR went up a bit after the walks (~70) but is back down to around 60 now. Was starving after not eating for 20-odd hours (stopped eating at 10 pm last night and didn't get out of operating room until almost 7 pm, as procedure was 5 hours)....
Thanks to all of you for your myriad advice and guidance, you've been fantastic. I'll keep you posted on my progress over the next few weeks.
The reason the ablation took 4 hrs 40 min was because initially they were going to do a cryo balloon ablation but it turned out that my right two pulmonary veins were fused before they reached the heart, so diameter of the opening was too large to fit the balloon over. As a result the EP had to manually ablate around the edge. The left two were normal so they used the balloon on those.
They also did an aflutter ablation on the way out, but when they put me into flutter to pace it, I degenerated into afib and several attempts at cardioversion failed as I kept slipping back into afib after a short period of time in sinus. So the EP then took a radio-frequency catheter and applied it to a specific point around the pulmonary vein and I converted myself at that exact moment, which he said was "very interesting". I'm hoping he accidentally-on-purpose hit the exact pathway that's been troubling me but time will tell.
I've been in sinus since then, but I am prepared for rough seas over the next 3 months...
