Sanjay Gupta, York cardiologist, has several interesting Youtube vdeos on A F as I am sure you all know.
On the vitamin C one he talks about how it might be helpful in reducing AF but big pharma are never going to sponsor a study as there is no money in it for them. He suggests it is something patients could do for themselves.
It occurred to me that this group would be ideal for this. We could take advice on study design, trial vit c supplements and report the results ourselves. Might be enough of us to create meaningful results and could not hurt...

the difficulty in conducting a study is most of us also take drugs and other supplements and different ones at that. So when we add. Vitamin C to say half the group and the rest no C then we cannot be clear that some of the other drugs and supplements are not the ones keeping us AF free. I’ve discussed supplemental trials with my son before who works as a project manager in Clinical Trials for Mind and Brain
It sounds like we have a few people possibly interested but maybe mot enough to make it worthwhile as for meaningful results you would need a larger group.
Were we interested in providing support to this kind of idea, we could take it offline from the group so as not to bother administrators and make more work for them.
Also, I think it must be possible to do something meaningful without excluding everyone who takes different existing medications or no research into people with AF would ever be done as we all have slightly different AF levels/ forms/ histories/ comorbidities/ treatments. But accept it would take more thought.
I’ve been trying this myself, mostly upping my vit c because of cold & flu season but I have noticed that my Afib episodes are shorter and seems less noticeable! I’m keeping a diary of it at the moment along side the affects of carbs , too many off those are definitely triggering for me .
I've been taking a large daily dose of Vitamin C since early January because I had a sore throat/cold that I just couldn't shake. The I saw Dr. Gupta's video so have carried on taking it. Up 'til now it hasn't seemed to have reduced the frequency of my episodes but I'm probably going to carry on. It can't hurt!
After watching Sanjay Gupta I started on Vit C (1000mg time release tablets once a day) and my Afib episodes have reduced significantly. So I would say that Vit C definitely worked for me.
And if anyone out there want to give it a try, what have you got to lose? There’s no fear of overdosing and you might be pleasantly surprised! Good luck everyone, take care.
