Ocean study for successful ablation patients

There is a very large study going on right now in several countries about the use of aspirin as opposed to NOACs for patients who have had a successful ablation. The link is. cspin.ca. My E/P cardiologist has suggested I go in the study but I am not so sure.I am certainly not a fan of the hair loss experienced on rivaroxaban and am very active in sports. It would be nice to be off them though.

I had always taken 2 standard aspirin tablets for headaches without any problems. After my AF diagnosis I was prescribed baby aspirin. Several weeks later my stomach reacted badly to the daily onslaught. I have had no stomach problems, before or since.

Before deciding on whether to enter the trial, make sure you have all the information and are clear on what is going to happen, especially how they will monitor those who are selected to stop the anticoagulants to insure your safety. It looks like some people will get a loop recorder, but the summary doesn't indicate if it will be all the people selected to stop the anticoagulant. I have volunteered to go into a clinical study of the risks/benefits of continuing Apixaban in patients who have had an ablation and have had no instances of Afib for at least 3 months post ablation. The research department of the local hospital is getting involved in the study, and are waiting for the sponsor to deliver the protocols. I look forward to hearing your decision.
