Arginine and Taurine

Has anyone here had success with Arginine/Taurine/Magnesium? My Naturopath is willing to have me try but I am wondering if anyone has any firsthand knowledge out there of how long it takes to see results or not? Thanks!

My London Naturopath tested me (by blood sample) for 'Red Cell Magnesium level and Co Q10, saying both should be in the upper quartile of the normal range. He the prescribed a similar Magnesium compound but said I need to partner it with CoQ10. I would keep a diary on how you feel and give it 3 months at least. You are unlikely to have any side effects.

I’ve been taking Magnesium taurate and Glycinate 330mg total per day as well as CoQ10 200mg and after about 9 months my magnesium blood level was in the mid range but CoQ10 at the bottom of the normal range. I have noticed no ectopics aside from 8 months ago. I’m also eating well and no alcohol aside from a sip or two every now and then. I also practice mindful breathing. I’ve been AF free since December 17 but I’m thinking it’s a combo of everything I do. I’m also on a very small dose of metoprolol only about 8mg

New Scientist published a Japanese study on Taurine that showed people who had high levels of Taurine lived longer and aged better. The study recommended that everyone took a Taurine supplement.

All the best.

Have you had blood tests to be sure your levels need increasing? I had thought for a few years that I ought to take a supplement but a recent blood test showed that my magnesium level is actually above the normal range

Hi Megan! I took magnesium citrate for two years. Sheer magic! Not one AFib bout for the whole two years, a lifetime of insomnia ended and the two years free of constipation. After the two years I had a bout of Afib so decided I had too much in my system. My sister took it just for insomnia but it upset her heart. So with guidance I would definitely give the magnesium to suit you a go. Good luck! x

I tried them all and saw no effect whatsoever, so worth a go, but don't expect miracles

Sounds like mileage varies for certain, but I feel like I have to try, the meds are all making me so ill.

Is it the beta blockers (Presume you are on those) - worth getting your Dr to keep tweaking dosage (of everything).

No, its been quite a journey. Beta Blockers don't work at all to stop rhythm so they have been trying others. Flecainide made me super ill, Norpace made rhythm worse, Propafenone is making me nauseated and dizzy. Diltiazem made.me really dizzy. I've always been really sensitive to CNS effects of meds.

Grim. I have perm AF so am stuck with it, but it's ok. Otherwise life is good. I was on beta blockers for a while and they are (were for me) frankly crippling, and my Dr implied they'd sort out the arrhythmia which they're not supposed to do. So I came off them. I don't need the other meds... yet!! There will be something that will suit you, hang on in there.

thanks. Feeling discouraged today. Even the Arginine gave me fits. Helped the rhythm but messed up my stomach... I have a second opinion in ten days with another EP. Hoping for somehinf better.
