Hi Redshock, I also had an uptick in my glucose reading to borderline diabetes while on a statin. I switched to a plant based diet at my EP's suggestion and both my cholesterol and glucose returned to normal within a few weeks. I was able to discontinue the statin and both levels remain normal.

I'm on Atorvastatin and I did get one blood test where my sugar level was higher than usual, but still "in range" just about. But on the next blood test it was down again. I don't know what it was before taking statins though.

I've been on atorvastatin since it was introduced on 1996 but have only recently had 'pre-diabetes' blood sugar measurements so I suspect it may be another medication. What other meds are you on ?

Hi Mike11, It is my father not myself. He is also taking Apixaban 2.5mg twice daily, concor 2.5mg, famotidine 20mg, both once a day.

By the way, what is the strength of the atorvastin u r taking? Increasing risk of diabetes is a printed warning on this drug I think.

Hi, I have just started this med. I was prescribed 40mg, but decided I'd start off with half that. Well, it's only been a week or so and I'm having high blood sugar. Now what to do? I don't know...

There are quite a few research this particular statin worsen blood sugar level. My father is off statin already since his cholesterol levels has nothing wrong to begin with.

80mg is the highest dose allowed. It will surely create serious insulin resistance. If u need to see the research papers. Let me know. I will post the links here.
