Cardizem aside effects?

I hadn't had any kind of med's for the heart, I have had 7 yrs of sporatic Tachycardia, and afib. Yr's in between those eposodes. a-fib was twice in 6 yrs and tachy about the same..

Now last may I had a tachycardia episode and Dr. in the ER said he was going to give me a pill and see if the the rythum would go back to normal rtyhum.. It was a Cardizem pill and he said he wanted me so just sit a little while to see if heart rate would go down. Well, it did , but my question is while waiting after I took the pill , about 30 minutes after I took this pill I got neck muscle spazems on right side of my neck and I just thought it go as fast as it came. But it did not and it has only gotten worse, and has never stopped since that moment and has only gotten worse, with severe spazums. they rasised the dose after I got out of ER. and my doctor put me on 240mg ER, one every day, only to find it was too much for me, and put it down to 180mg. ER once daily. Then 3 weeks ago down to 120 mg ER , once per day. I never had had ANY kind of muscle spazum in my neck and shoulder area EVER. It's just constant and causes me so much anxiety..

It was the first time I had ever had that pain in neck. Never had before.. could it be that Cardizem pill or it that just stupid coincident? I feel like a fool, but I can't make those pulling and spazums stop.. Dr. also added Elequis to my regiment, I take one tab. in the am and one tab at pm.. 5mg. each. Has this happened to anyone else immediatly after taking first pill in er. last May???? Any thoughts , I am just beside myself, I think I sound like nut, but it is just how it started.. :(( Thanks for anyone with any ideas??

No issues ever with cardizem ER 180; been on it for about two years. No side effects whatsoever. Also, none with Eliquis. I think your neck issues are probably coincidence, not causation from the medications.

I've never been on Cardizem but I think if I were in your situation I would ask the doctor to switch you to another med. Seems like the only way to determine if this is coincidence or not.

What have they done to help you get relief or diagnose from these spasms ? Your quality life matters as much as your medical management. Hopefully your doctor would be open to changing your cardizem to another class of med just as effective.

Yes, I am like you, that probably only through the process of elimination, could I be sure. I have never told the Dr. I thought/think he will probably just think I am a dingbat, but truly pleasant pink, I have never had any kind of neck spasms or anywhere else, so 30-40 minutes after that 1st. pill I took that he gave me, that I was when the spasm started, and it has progressed to I am so limited from the pain, which only grew worse week to week.. I think I will have to say something to him about it, as you are correct, my quality of life has gone down hill.. I can't thank you enough for answering... It is the weirdest thing that has ever happened.. Again, thanks for your answer, it is the first time I really do think I need to mention it to him... 🌺
