Joint pain on Edoxaban

Hi there.

I was diagnosed with AF 2 months ago and put on Edoxaban.

I've been getting joint pains now in my hands and knees and have read a post on here that it's not unusual to get these on Edoxaban.

How many people on here take Edoxaban and do you get joint pain? Does anyone on here take another kind of anticoagulant, e.g. apixaban or other brand and has it affected your joints?

Would like some feedback before I get in touch with my GP.

Thanks

Lily

Been on good old warfarin for 18 years but had arthritis the last ten or more.

Do you think that's to do with taking warfarin?

Hi Mrs Suzuko,

I had really bad difficulties on Edoxaban. I ceased taking it, tried Riveroxaban and it was no better. Found myself getting gradually weaker I also seem to have had a severe reaction to the Covid vaccine ending up in A and E twice unable to breathe...Still awaiting a onsultant ppointment a year on . No Covid positivity Times are difficult.

I can't suggest what you might do...just describe my experience. Before my AF was discovered by accident...still causing me no symptoms of whivch I am aware.....I was in no difficulty at all. Such is life..

No advice...just an agreement re Edoxaban. Not your imagination possibly.

Best wishes.....

hi

I too have joints pain, especially on my right shoulder, upper arm, elbow, wrist, little fingers but not sure wether it’s because of Edoxaban, started Edoxaban in Jan. I was also referred to rheumatology dept and waiting for appointment, I went to physiotherapist complained about my sport injuries and he asked to have blood test for rheumatism..

I take Apixaban . It worsens my joint pain a lot especially in my lower back. I discovered this when I was taken off for 8 days before my first hip op and my pain improved dramatically.

I've been on Edoxaban since December 2019. No issues with it at all.

I’ve been on Edoxaban for 3 years. Much prefer it to Warfarin. I’ve got some arthritic finger joints but put that down to advancing years and it never occurred to me that the E. was responsible.

I had to stop Apixaban, made me so ill I was fainting everywhere, but no aches or pains at all, even pains I was having before, just disappeared. Riveroxaban is crippling me now, walking is so painful, but tried Edoxaban and had such a severe head pain, I"m back on Riveroxaban.

I was put on apixaban 2 yrs ago and my arthritis has just got worse and worse. Before that I was on warfarin which didn't seem such a problem. I'm 73 and the medics response is what do you expect you are an old man. I find that insulting in many ways but it means they don't have to bother if they can say arthritis problems are due to aging. good luck

I’ve been on Edoxaban for two years now. I do have joint pain in my hands, but just thought it was arthritis.

I was prescribed Apixaban about three years ago and have had no problems at all. About two months ago the pharmacist at the surgery rang me and suggested I change to one a day Edoxaban. I have recently started with joint pain in my left shoulder and particularly in my left hand and fingers. I can no longer wear my wedding ring because of the swelling. Until recently I had worn it every day for 56 years without a problem. I am going to request that I go back to Apixaban.
