Ablation Today

Off to Bristol in a bit for my second Ablation after 18 months. Not worried about the procedure but the agony two nights later. Can only describe the pain as a hedgehog with its skin turned inside out in a burning building. Couldn't even reach for the phone to call for help. Hope its better this time.

Never in all my years heard that before. Something was not normal. Apart from some slight discomfort afterwards few people actually experience pain. Bit sore in groin and maybe some mild chest ache for a couple of days.

Ended up in Gloucester Hospital A&Ewaiting room for 9 hours. Diagnosis was after effects of surgery.

Hopefully it was a one off and won't happen this time. Somewhat puts my mind at rest. Thanks Bob.

Best wishes for a pain free procedure & no hedgehogs 🦔. My experience was indeed agony when I was coming round from the GA - had to be knocked out again with i/v fentanyl due to the severe pain of pericarditis caused by the ablation. Then suffered oesophagitis as well. Extreme pain! In hosp 5 days for ablation and readmitted for a further 6 days to sort it all out.

Hope you're doing well after this one. Sounds like you had pericarditis after your first. I had a bit too - blooming uncomfortable- but luckily only on the first night. Had other disturbances with ablation 1 but doing really well 11 months after ablation 2. Fingers 🤞 you'll be the same.

Just woke up to full English Breakfast. Good night's sleep but no dawn chorus in Bristol. Several sealing of gaps in fences during the procedure, should settle to regular heartbeat now. Cardeoversion aswell at some stage during the procedure to bring heartbeat back to full speed. Back home today. No driving for two days and resting for two weeks. All seems good so far.

Wow -- never heard of that. I had absolutely no pain after my three ablations. I hope yours goes equally well this time.

First full night at home. Took 2 paracetamols at 10 pm just in case. Slept like a log till 5am. Woke up lying on my front to the long lost feeling of woosh woosh, woosh woosh, woosh woosh in my chest. Rolled over and the same sound internally in my ears. So missed that rhythm for nearly 2 years. Dozed off till 7.30 wondering what time breakfast was arriving but realised I was home now. Never mind, gently does it. 🙂
