Edoxaban and insomnia

Having been on the anti-coagulant Dabigatran for the last 8 years without any issues, my GP suggested I change to Edoxaban (I think its cheaper!). However, since changing 5 days ago, I've been sleeping badly and lightly. Has anyone suffered insomnia from Edoxaban or is it just a coincidence? Thanks

Yes, I think you are right 'cheaper' (my cardio told me this) was probably the only rationale. Disappointing they swap you without leaving the option to go back on the table; I think you are within your rights to insist if your issue continues.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have an issue with the suggestion to change - I did check with my cardiologist first before agreeing to it and he was fine with me swapping to Edoxaban. I'd just like to know if anyone else gets in insomnia to help me decide whether I stick with them or ask to go back to Dabigatran.

I looked up references to insomnia with Edoxaban and noticed your post a few years ago. I am having trouble sleeping and have recently changed over to Edoxaban. It would be useful to know how or if you resolved your problem. Did you change to another blood thinner ? It would be useful to know. Thank you.

Hi, I now think that the insomnia I was getting when I changed to Edoxaban a few years ago was not due to the Edoxaban itself, but the fear that changing to a new unfamiliar drug may cause insomnia. I've suffered from bouts of insomnia for years and I now realise that its often the fear of it that causes it, if that makes sense. I don't have any problem with Edoxaban now, and taking it once a day rather than twice, which I was with Dabigatran, is great. It also doesn't give me stomach problems which Dabigatran did. Hope this helps and your insomnia improves soon.

Thank you adx46. That’s helpful, mine might be due to changing over to wintertime then. I had stomach problems with Apixaban, the beta blocker before that and Lansoprazole. The side effects can be a bit of a minefield.
