Hi, I had af for around 30 years before a very successful ablation after fleconaide stopped working. My cardiologist put me on Edoxaban after the ablation but I had not been on a blood thinner until I was cured of af, he explained it was down to my age.

I am a very active commercial fisherman and I ask a lot of my body but I don’t quite feel myself, could it be the Edoxaban holding me back? Energy levels are down and I have a bit of a tight chest.

When was your ablation? Full recovery can take six months or more. Anticoagulants such as edoxaban should not affect energy levels.

Hi BobI had the ablation December 2019, I have not regained the fitness levels I had before the ablation. I ended up in resus in hospital 2 weeks post ablation with missed beats, and an svt that settled into bigeminy I was sent home the next day with a change of arythmya drug and was told I needed another ablation. I spent the next 2 weeks in bed with a virus which I am convinced was covid, flu would only stop me working for two days but the symptoms where classic covid and a month ahead of reported cases.

So in fairness my fitness had taken a big hit and my age maybe didn’t help a quick recovery so I may just be looking to blame something else and the Edoxaban fitted the bill. I had an appointment with my cardiologist and he wanted to perform an ablation to stop another svt, the first ablation was for af by freezing the pulmonary veins. Covid put all procedures back but my heart had settled down so well it was decided not to proceed with second ablation and I have since been signed off by my cardiologist as he was happy with my progress.

As Bob said, could be the aftereffects of your ablation. Also I tend to focus on heart and meds if ever I feel a bit under par,and missed being anaemic for quite awhile! Perhaps a general check up? Xx
