I think I have to eat my words. My private appointment for echocardiogram etc is booked for next Tuesday. Today I received a call from cardiology at my local hospital advising me my blood result had been automatically referred to them and I am to attend for echo ecg then see a doctor this Friday at 10pm. Once I recovered from the shock two thoughts took over, very happy at saving £597.00 but why are they seeing me so quickly?Guess there’s no pleasing me! I will post another update after Friday.

Update
Hi. It is great to be seen so quickly . I totally get why you are concerned but whatever the reason for your speedy appointment, it is better to find out if there is a problem and get appropriate treatment if necessary. X
Hiya FN,
Well I've had an oddity too which I posted about the other day about eating humble pie .................. got a phone call from my surgery inviting me for an ECG and an Echo ... as soon as possible. This has been totally unsolicited leaving me too wondering. They wanted me sooner than later but this isn't possible due to the appointment times they have available clashing with my working hours. So ECG now for late afternoon on 24 October. Have no appointment slot yet for Echo.
Leaves me wondering if the annual round of blood tests they did at the beginning of September showed something that needed a follow up. My first ECG and Echo was when I was diagnosed with AF in January 2010. My next was early September 2020 and this will be my 3rd in nearly 13 years.
Looking at all the replies to my post the other day am now thinking its just a routine monitoring process.

carneuny you are very lucky your surgery does echocardiograms. Hope all goes well for you. In my case it was the lab that referred me under the two week rule which means urgent otherwise the wait for echo is 33 weeks.
Hi FN,
Sorry I worded it badly ... my surgery only does the ECG's. It refers me to a specialist medical centre some 10 miles away where they will do the Echo at a date and time yet to be determined.
John
well I do hope you don’t wait too long for it.
oh my goodness I do not understand the time frames they make you all wait. As much as I complain about my recent problem with my EP at least I was able to get a new cardiologist who will refer me to the EP I now want. I can’t imagine being worried about what’s going on and having to wait 33 weeks waiting one or two has been difficult and it took a month to get my appointment with my new cardiologist.
I'm wondering if the NHS are trying to deal.with their huge backlog of cardiology appointments by using the private sector? I had been on thr (long) waitlist for ablation and got call to ask if i could go into Nuffirld (private hospital) that week...very short notice. Ive heard of hospitals hiring in locums to work weekends etc too to do echos etc Thry are trying to deal.with backlog. Just a thought.
I think the NHS is on a major catch up so lots of appointments seem to be coming available .
Thats a late appointment to see a doctor at 10pm. Hope all goes well for you and your echo is fine.
Jean
I can’t resist it - I told you so 😀🎉
