What were your symptoms before you had the pacemaker fitted?

Hi, I am 76 always was very fit and active but two years ago damaged my left leg, that slowed me down a lot , then I was found to have prostate cancer. during a biopsy my heart rate was found to be 32 at rest . long story short, the pacemaker has given my life back ,I can walk without becoming an old man after a mile. I feel young again !.

Hello Pete

Thanks for the reply. I am 75.

I have a slow heart rate with bad conductivity between the atrium and the ventricle. My resting heart rate is not quite a slow as yours was but it is around 40 - 45 when resting. Otherwise I get breathless and am very lacking in stamina. I can walk and sometimes walk a way but only very slowly. As you said it is not ideal walking like an old man (even if my grandchildren think I am anyway).

I have been told that a pacemaker will make my quality of life much better but I have issues with skin allergies and I am really worried that I might be allergic to the pacemaker when it is implanted. They have tried to assemble all the components to test me and after 2 years they still are trying to do this.

Trouble is that my skin is allergic to pads and stickers that were used for the ablation procedure and it was unbearable.

Hearing that the pacemaker has helped you so much gives me hope that if they manage to give me assurance about the allergy that it might be worthwhile having a pacemaker.

Long may it last! Was a 'slow' heart causing AF?

Hi Pete, You need to look at Your food intake ref the type of food consumed, cut out all food that is meat and dairy eat mostly fresh where possible, green uncooked veg should be the main stay, do not eat anything that has been buggered about with, bacon and all deli meats , also cow milk, have a look on the net loads of good things to read, just do this for a week.

Not what you're looking for?
