This is just one person’s experience, and I’m told I’m a ‘difficult case’, but in the absence of any surveys or reviews, what else do we have to go on?
I had a hybrid ablation in the UK in September last year. Mine was single stage, rather than the two stage version where the surgical ablation is followed up 3 months later by the EP. I also had an LAA occlusion
My pacemaker recorded 87% af in the year before the procedure. It’s recorded 2.3% since. Not af free, but pretty good compared with how I was!
The bad news is that I’m still on all the medsso some of this success will be due to them, particularly amiodarone which I’ve now been taking for far too long and want to give up. One option might be to switch to dronedarone.
I’m also one of the unlucky ones for whom an LAA occlusion doesn’t mean a life free of blood thinners, but I can live with that.
I may never be free of this pesky beast, but it won’t defeat me 😎😉😊
