Wondering how people got on if they caught Covid? Not sure if they’re related but I had a sore throat in Sunday and on Sunday evening, a quick burst of AFib. Tested positive on Monday. Now trying to stay apart from husband whose lft and pcr are negative. Mine are positive. How did anyone else get on with AFib if they caught Covid?
To finish, I was in one shop, masked for ten minutes and this is probably the source.
Sorry not had it but it does seem highly random. Both my sons got it over New Year-- Likely at the gym but then went to stay with No2 son's GF who is a nurse. She never caught it till earlier this month! Despite her driving me unmasked to pick up a take away the night before she tested positive I didn't catch it. What will be will be.
Yes it would seem that way but tbh I’ve hardly been out, get online shops, family tests every other day and I went to buy books for my grandchildren, fully masked and wham! We’re in Scotland where rules are slightly more stringent for the moment. Thanks for the response.
Scientists say that a single breath from someone with the Omicron variant is enough to transmit it. Best to use FFP2s or FFP3s as the blue surgical masks offer less protection.
I can say I probably had runs of af a couple of days before testing positive. Then it seemed to settle.
Rest up is the best advice from friends. You'll be tired and won't feel like even walking down the road by all accounts. Can take 9-10 days to go. Be well - looks like most of us will get it eventually
I spoke to an old girlfriend who had it. She said that in Italy they recommend an echocardiogram and X -ray to check the heart and lungs two months after recovery.
JD. I got it January. Im Asthmatic so was pretty poorly for a couple of weeks. Sparked a 9 hour episode of AF , all managed at home and still here to tell the tale. .
As an aside, why did you wear a mask if you think the time you was wearing a mask was when you got covid 🤷♂️
My wife has tested +ve for covid. So she’s got covid

Because it's known that even the best masks are not 100% effective?
How effective are they then if the OP stated that they must have got covid in the 10 minutes that they were masked?I’d say not very effective at all
Different types of mask have different effectiveness. FFP2s and FFP3s are considerably more effective than cloth masks or the blue surgical masks. As we don't know what sort of mask was being worn in this case we cannot determine how effective it was likely to have been. There would also be other considerations such as whether the mask was being worn correctly and whether it had been inadvertently contaminated. There is also the question of whether the Covid was actually contracted in the shop; whilst this sounds likely on the description, it isn't certain.
Decently fitted masks are pretty excellent, even home made ones, at stopping "egress", that is, stopping the infected user breathing out their germs; they are much less successful (except for full surgical masks) at preventing "ingress", i.e. breathing in someone's germs.
This is why we ALL need to wear masks if we are to prevent the spread of airborne viruses like covid. If only a few wear them, then their effectiveness is greatly diminished. The government must be relying on two things: i) the vaccines prevent serious illness and ii) the two omicron variants are much less likely to cause serious illness.

I'm on day 6 of testing positive for covid. It has seemed to have escalated my AF I'm just praying and hoping that it will settle down soon. It's not constant but a nuisance! 😕
Still recovering from Covid. First tested positive on the 16th March. Was positive until days 9 and 10. Still very tired, can’t do too much in a day. Been left with a dreadful cough, even worse first thing in the morning. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I’m asthmatic which doesn’t help matters. Managed to keep OH free from it by very strict total isolation. He left food outside the bedroom door for me, I put a mask on to open the door to pick it up. Fortunately we have an ensuite to the bedroom I isolated in. We spoke to each other on the phone for ten days. I would ring the landline using my mobile. Just stay isolated and don’t expect to feel great as soon as you come out
Try NAC -N acetyl cysteine for the cough. This was recommended to me at our pharmacy when I last had a cough - 6 years ago. I take it as a supplement now . It is very good for lung health and also supports the immune system.

Can you tell me if there are any known interactions with Apixaban, Diltiazem or Flecainide?
NAC has some "blood thinning" properties but I don't know if they are anticoagulant or anti aggregant ( like aspirin). No idea for Flec or Diltiazem. You could ask at the pharmacy. I have been taking it as a supplement for years before I started on Apixaban. Though now I take 600mg every other day rather than every day.

Think I’m in a similar situation- I’m living upstairs and having meals left outside the bedroom which also has an en-suite. Husband still negative but being a total star. Covid has highlighted inequalities even more but we tell ourselves we are lucky. I’m on day 7.
I know everyone is different but yes I feel the same as you, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy either. This has really taken the stuffing out of me. Hopefully I'm over the worst. 🤞
I had covid last month. Just a sore throat with a dry cough after eating that I am still having. It did not trigger afib and did not get me off my snow shoveling duties imposed by my wife... So it was very light, I am also fully vaccinated.
