This is my third day with Covid. I'm hoping to go .on holiday on Saturday. I know we are all different, I hope it's gone by then. I wonder how long it usually takes to clear.

Today is Saturday? Ten days seems normal so three plus seven = ten if you mean next Saturday. You will need two negative tests I expect.

Absolutely no way to tell. Depends on your age, vaccination history and any treatments you may have or may not have taken such as Paxlovid or monoclonal antibodies, etc. And even then, absolutely no way to tell. Dr. Anthony Fauci was triple vaccinated, took Paxlovid and had a rebound. Probably out of commission for over a week. And rebounds are not uncommon, whether you take Paxlovid or not. Hopefully, you will feel better tomorrow, but the main thing is to make your recovery from Covid a priority, rather than other plans. Getting back to too much activity, too soon, can sometimes cause a rebound, so even if you feel better soon, plan to take it easy for at least a couple of weeks, even more important if you're a senior.

I tested negative on day 10 but I continued to suffer from extreme exhaustion, apathy and loss of appetite fir 5 weeks. I began to doubt whether I was ever going to feel well again and others have said the same. However I just woke up one morning and it was like a veil had been lifted and I improved from that day.

That's my experience but yours could be quite different. My husband tested negative during this time , much to my surprise.

Hi

Took me 10 days to test negative and a few more days to fully get over it.

All the best

My son and his wife have been having just these thoughts as they have their biannual visit to his wife's family's farm in glorious Transylvania and hope to leave next Wednesday 20th.

My son started with it first on Tuesday 5th and was testing positive until two days ago (15th); his wife started symptoms on Saturday 9th and is still faintly positive today (17th).

It hit her and, especially, our four-year-old grandson (who was unvaccinated, of course) quite hard and is far from being "just a cold".

Hits everyone so differently. My daughter had no symptoms whatsoever, her friends from the hospital where she works rang to say they had covid. She tested and was positive, I can't tell you how annoyed she was not to be able to go back to work. The NHS monitored her well with almost daily calls and got her an oximeter. She kept telling them that she had no symptoms. Her Oximeter reading was perfect.

It was her that told me that you only have to stay home for 6 days now. I guess it depends what department you work in, can't imagine that would be the case for nurses. I'm going to text her now and ask.

Our daughter in law is a nurse and she’s been told to wait till she has a negative test result, which she’s hoping for today. It’s causing major problems in her department.

An elderly friend’s wife contracted covid a week ago while in hospital after a fall (shown using a PCR test). She was completely without symptoms - until one night, out of the blue, she developed pneumonia, now mostly resolved thankfully. The doctor put it down to covid. If so - it’s worrying!

Our granddaughter is a midwife so she had to have two negative tests before she could go back to work

I heard that the rule now was to isolate yourself for just 6 days and then, if able to, resume normal life.

That was to get the country back to work Jean. Rules and common sense have little in common where any government is concerned. Ten days seems the norm. (No2 son's OH is a nurse.)

From NHS site:

What to do if you've tested positive for COVID-19

If you have COVID-19, you can pass on the virus to other people for up to 10 days from when your infection starts. Many people will no longer be infectious to others after 5 days.

You should:

try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days

avoiding meeting people at higher risk from COVID-19 for 10 days, especially if their immune system means they’re at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19, even if they’ve had a COVID-19 vaccine

This starts from the day after you did the test.

If a child or young person aged 18 or under tests positive for COVID-19, they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days. This starts from the day after they did the test.

Children and young people tend to be infectious to others for less time than adults. If they’re well and do not have a temperature after 3 days, there’s a much lower risk that they’ll pass on COVID-19 to others.

6 Days in my daughters case. If it's the Omicrom variant it doesn't seem to be vary serious. No real symptoms other than feeling a bit rough and achy. Good luck.

T’en days before I tested negative and three months before I started to feel normal. Left with several depleted vitamin D levels so now on massive loading dose until able to go back to normal maintenance dose.

Wait until you've had 2 negative pcr tests before going. Don't risk other peoples health/lives.

Thanks all. It seems everyone has different recovery times.

It’s not just about recovery but spreading the virus, especially to vulnerable people. Now that few if any people are masking or using alcohol gel, although the numbers are finally going down, the risks for the vulnerable are still very high.

Hi I'm on day 6. I'm jabbed to the eyeballs. Vit D full up and usually fit bit the little spiky fella got me and I ain't going nowhere until I have two negatives or I've been in isolation for 10 days. Sure its lousy but I dont want anyone getting it from me. I can honestly say I have never felt so ill for the first couple of days. Feeling much better but I'm missing my family . Not much longer now. You hang on in there. You will be clear of the virus and have a clear conscience as well. Take care 😷

As you Adalaide I've had all my jabs. I felt awful for a couple of days. Day five for me. The worst part for me is the fatigue and cough. My chest is sore with coughing. I wouldn't go anywhere to my tests are negative and I feel well.

My son's family mirrored this, feeling very poorly overall, although my son got off the lightest. Their 4-year-old had ten days of being really quite poorly and we missed seeing him a very great deal.

I wouldn't describe this as other than a nasty virus but, thankfully, it's not causing much serious disease.

We’ve both had all our jabs, both tested positive on Saturday, but had felt poorly for 2-3 days before that (tests at that point were negative 🤦‍♀️); we stayed home as soon as we started to feel unwell - 1st couple of days we weren’t well enough to do anything anyway! OH still testing positive today, I’ll test tomorrow. Although we’re starting to feel better, we’re both still knackered and have no energy! Won’t be going anywhere, or seeing anyone, anytime soon!
