Ive just see they are looking in to tintinitus and the covid vaccine as a large number have reported having it after the vaccine be interesting if they got afib also
pulsatile tinnitus and covid - Atrial Fibrillati...
pulsatile tinnitus and covid
I've had pulsatile tinnitus for probably 15 years and AF for 20 long before they made covid.
Yer I've only just seen that they are looking into it as there has been a big report of people getting it after the vaccine and covid
Yep - I’ve had titinus on and off since I had COVID. My husband had sudden loss hearing in both ears after COVID, thankfully it gradually returned but still not as good as before. I still have loss of smell & taste which again comes and goes. Several friends have no sense of smell still - which is quite dangerous.
quiet interesting to see if any one else has had the same thing I just see on the news they was looking into it due to the large amount of people that have got it and to see if there is any link with afib
There seems to be a link between increase in AF episodes with both COVID & vax from what I have read. COVID caused so many symptoms that I wouldn’t think you could find a direct link between AF, COVID and/or vax? Even if there were a statistical link you could never prove causation - AF/titinus other than pulsation titinus which many of us had way before COVID.
yes I no longer have my sense of smell, but that is because I had brain tumour surgery. You’re right it is dangerous especially now I’m like king Alfred and keep burning the cakes!!
Lol Pat
Ps….by the way I’ve had tinnitus for years round about the time it was thought I had syndrome x . Later on it seems it was afib
PS - always worse after vax - no more for me - I just declined the spring booster.
I don't blame you . I've had worst colds than covid.
My life has been absolutely ruined by long COVID. The whole "it's a cold" narrative is dangerous.
And locking the economy down and not dealing with far worst illnesses is also dangerous.
I don’t think anyone is denying that many people’s lives have been ruined by COVID and long COVID and I’m really sorry you have been affected.
But ALSO It is now recognised by the WHO that similar long lasting symptoms happen after receiving multiple vaccines.
I was seriously ill with COVID in 2021 and know many people with long COVID and it’s not something to be taken lightly however, neither is the damage done by multiple vaxing. Switzerland has now stopped all further vaccinations programmes and UK is advising only for very frail and 75+. Knowing the time between vaxs and when to stop is the issue and there are risks involved for both taking and not taking which is an individual choice. I chose no further vax, my husband took the vax and seems to tolerate them well.
My problem is that we as a society don’t seem able to have a balanced and factual debate without becoming dismissive of another’s experience or view. I don’t think it is dangerous to speak out my truth or hear yours. Both are valid.
Most of my family have had COVID at least 3-5 times in the last 3 years and have have not had any symptoms or those less than a cold. We all have different circumstances and experiences.
Best wishes
Totally agree CD but sadly measured debate is difficult when some people have such entrenched ideas and conspiricy theories. Free will is wonderful mind.
So agree as my children have both had covid about three times. As I already have chronic fatigue, covid itself (or long) didn’t (or doesn’t) make much difference! We are all different so naturally we all react differently. Guess the vaccine might work for “the majority”. I’m 79 and due another jab in May. I didn’t get an answer from the surgery on whether that would be ok to have only four months since actually having covid! Anyone been in that position?
Yer I have had all my vaccination all I'm saying is there is a big coincidence
I'm sorry I don't understand - coincidence between what? Purely AF and titinus; Vax and titinus; or having had COVID and titinus?
Purely AF - then pulsatile titinus there is a reason but probably pure coincidence for ordinary titinus with AF.
Who knows if vax is a cause?
Having had COVID and with onset AF - titinus seems to be common lasting symptom, judging by the replies on the forum.
Doesn't help that we are not given FACTS by Government, W H O or whoever, not that they really know facts even now. Husband and I are 4 times vaccinated, as far as we know haven't had covid. He tolerates the vaccine well. I've had heart problems every time with thousands of ectopics immediately after the booster. They lasted around a month then slowly settled. You have to just make up your own mind based on whatever information you believe.
It is just a cold for some people . Some people are barely aware they have anything wrong with them and others die of it. It's the terrain. As far as I know I have never had covid. I am pretty sure my husband had it in late Dec 2019 - there is evidence from retested blood samples that it was circulating in France and Italy in autumn 2019 long before the Chinese admitted to it. Despite being together 24/7 I did not catch it. There are many other examples of people not catching it from family members they are in close contact with. My husband has just recovered from a respiratory tract infection that he probably caught from his squash partner. Again I did not catch it.
The more times you are infected, the greater your chance (regardless of whether you had symptoms or not) of kidney issues, cardiovascular issues, blood clots and pulmonary issues, diabetes, neurological issues, muscular-skeletal issues. That doesn't sound like it is "just a cold" for anybody.
If you are infected 3 times, your chances of cardiovascular issues (the reason we are all here, right?) is nearly 5 times higher than without any infection.
This is based on published peer reviewed research, it isn't my opinion or based on me and my family's experiences.
I'm very pleased for anybody who gets the virus and feels like they have got away with mild symptoms - but it is not "like a cold", and anybody who believes this has been seriously misled (very likely through no fault of their own - the public health messaging on this subject has been appalling).
Hi
If you give blood then they keep a sample.
It was interesting that when I tested hep B antigens. Within 3 hours the headache and shivering happened after 1st jab for Hep B.
The testing of my sample blood showed I already had a small amount of immunity to Hep B.
My blood now shows 1000 units against Hep B.
Back in NZ the Minister of Health reckons I cotracted Hep B in the work place. What a lot of rot. Within 3 hours The headache and shiverig started. At bedtime I went to bed in a fur coat! Still shivering.
re Tinnitus I felt mine was due to anxiety. Once out of that phase the tnnitus disappeared.
I had a plane return flying from Sydney to Auckland. I had flu and it came down so fast I was crying with the pain. I lost hearing for days. Dr said my eardrum could have broken. An infection in my ear due to rapid change in altitude. Antibiotics for 5 months to clear. Hearing slowly came back but left hearing has dropped.
In NZ we have a different vax pjizer or something. I haven;t had covid but flu in Dec 2020. 4 vax and 8 mthe beyond last I have 5th with omicron immunity in this one on Tuesday.
I understand you just get a cold with fully vaxed. And no heart inflammation. Long covid does not sound good for any of us afers. Our new Prime Minister had his No. 5 1st April 2023.
As a retired nurse I will line up for any jab recommended to me but I say no to flu jabs. 1 x box dark grape per day rids the sore throat and clears nose. VIT C.
cheri JOY. 74. (NZ)
That's what my sister said and she had the original Wuhan strain before the vaccines were available. But she was supplementing with vit D which she did not do when younger.
Everyone is different, covid killed my sister, and her husband was in ICU for weeks and barely survived. For others its just a sniffle.
Same here CDreamer. I'm Asthmatic as well as PAF but the Vac really affected my heart. I've had 4 Vacinations and Covid twice, first time hospitalised, if I haven't built up enough immunity after that lot I never will so I'm passing on any more .
My wife has tinnitus as a result of having Covid. I have had it since the 1970's. I am hoping my wife's tinnitus goes away slowly - she doesn't seem to have it all the time like me but about once every few days wakes up with it. It came as part of labyrinthitis which she got just after testing negative for Covid - after testing positive for 18 days! Also she gets a low drone sort of noise - like when you have the AC on in the car. Mine changes and can be loud buzzing or whistling/screaming sounds so I hope hers doesn't progress like mine did. The Covid itself was not a problem I have had worse colds but testing positive for so long was a bit too much for us as had to miss dental appointments we had waited months for because they wouldn't see us until we had tested negative on two consecutive days - so still waiting on those dental appointments! The resultant fatigue after Covid has also been a bit too much as being Spring we want to get out in the garden or do other things outside but we tended to be able to do one thing and then need to rest and occassionally felt like poop the following day so we were working a day on a day off! Still, as my wife always says, it's better than the alternative.
I'm the same as you wife, it comes and goes as does my sense of taste and smell but I notice when I'm tires, stressed or have an infection they all get worse.
This Covid vaccine saga is turning into a very sad story, which ever way you turn. I hope the true facts come out (whatever they are) and the Public are better informed and treated in the future. Regrettably AF/other heart conditions are one aspect. The best source of information I have found is covid19criticalcare.com/ .
That is an American site and the advice between US, UK and Europe does seem to vary, especially regarding vaccinations.
Does look as though it's an independent site with useful info so thanks for posting.
had tinnitus for nearly 20 years..........AF for 2......the tinnitus does seem worse when having AF episode.........oh, yea had covid and every thing felt worse for about a week.
I've had tinnitus for years now; fortunately only really notice it when stressed or like now when I read about it and it's at the front of my mind. Most of the time I'm unaware. Feel b ad for those who have it constantly and badly. Mine's just a whistling high pitched noise. I don't think it's related to any other health condition.
yes I got tinnitus after my 3rd vaccine
I haven't read of much research in this area. One issue with investigating vaccine side effects in general, it seems. is that well over a quarter prove to be anxiety related. It seems to be rather like statin side effects, where a recent large double-blinded study showed that the majority of side effects were non-drug related and, essentially, psychologically induced.
It seems to me that there are a group of people who have pre-existing but perhaps unknown auto-immune disorders that can react oddly to the mRNA vaccine and, sometimes, react badly. Research work is going on to investigate this, but I imagine it to be hard going to find links.

If you are referring to the study that appeared in the NEJM conducted at Imperial then your idea of large is very peculiar. There were 60 participants of whom only 49 actually completed the study.. What is more the statin dose was low. They were given Atorvastatin 20mg a day. The starting dose for Atorvastatin is 10 - 20mg a day and is adjusted depending on how much cholesterol lowering is required and this can rise to as high as 80mg. There was ( as usual) a lower participation of women. The exclusion criteria for who was chosen were extensive. One of the inclusion criteria for the study was that only patients who had stopped statins due to adverse reactions encountered in the first fortnight could participate. This probably excludes the large bulk of statin takers who take longer than 2 weeks to develop symptoms.
I have carefully trawled through the entire study including the supplementary appendix. It was an odd study in that participants took placebo for one month , the statin for one month and no pill at all for one month. What is clear is that the month in which no pill was taken (participants got empty bottles for that month )cannot be " blinded" in any way. You know whether you are swallowing a pill or not . It is hardly surprising that less side effect symptoms were recorded for that month . This would happen for both a true effect or for a nocebo effect. However any symptoms that did occur during this pill free month could be explained by a prolonged effect from a previous statin month. In some people statin side effects do not disappear the moment the tablet is stopped. We have a friend who has been on and off statins (due to side effects ) for years. Not only did he experience pain in his Achilles tendons he also had visible swelling and this did not disappear totally after stopping statins though it has improved a bit with time. Because the patients chosen for the study had to have discontinued statins within two weeks of study it is likely but by no means certain that they had been on a starting dose . Even this is muddied as some of the patients had been on more than one statin - the bulk of them - and 10 patients on 4 or 5! Did they receive these different statins with no intervening period off them? No info on that . Were the doses different ? No info.
So basically even if this study shows a nocebo effect it is for a VERY small subgroup of patients and not for statin users as a whole as widely reported in the press. The authors did say that the study would be repeated with longer treatment /no treatment blocks but did not say whether higher statin doses would be used. This would be necessary in order to get some idea of how doses other than a starting dose panned out.
You are on a mission to gainsay medical experts, i reckon! 😳😉 I hadn’t noticed the numbers in the recent study were low - my apologies. I’ve now edited my post. I was aware though that there have been media reports going back over the years about this phenomenon. Looking quickly, I imagine those were based not on the small recent study, but on an older long term and very large (>10.000 participants) study from 2017 (although there are several earlier than that).
I was interested to read that the very rare serious statin side effects that might lead to severe muscle problems can be ascertained by blood tests. The non specific muscle aches most often reported seem not to show in such tests.
It’s an interesting area. I have an elderly friend who can’t take statins owing to muscle aches and other side effects, so I’m sure there is an issue but the “nocebo” effect is surely also real and important - and is a factor in the side effects profile of far more drugs than statins.
Steve
I have had pulsatile tinnitus for three years following a major unrelated op. Not uncommon annoying but unless due to a tumour or a bulging blood vessel (and worth checking) it is benign. All illnesses have risks.
44 year old friend has been in and out of hospital for three months with severe cardiac problems after his second episode of Covid and 38 year old niece has long covid. Recently they discovered that it crosses the placenta and two babies died. It may be a “cold” for many but it is an opportunistic virus that can be very dangerous. I will avoid it where I can and take the risks of any vax. So far little effects from the boosters for me.
I had covid twice, once in Spain Oct 2019, lots of people caughing at the air port, had problems with ears felt blocked couldnt equalise my ears,, hearing worse, covid again June 2022 same problem ears can't equalise ears again, waiting for appointment ears nose throat could be may hopefully
Hi,
Yes I had afib and still have tinnitus!! Over 18 months later. The cardiologist is certain the afib was caused by covid.
Thank goodness they are looking into tinnitus as its so debilitating.
Wish I could join in!
Cheers,
After my last booster, within 3 days I developed a very erratic heart beat. Holter monitor showed over 5000 ectopics in 8 hours both ventricular and atrial. Lasted around a month then slowly went away.
Quiet strange I wonder if this has happened to a lot of people
I did ask on here but didn't get much of a reply
And there was a time a few months ago when any discussion about this subject became just too contentious that the thread would be closed or pulled.
I understand that. Another group I'm on doesn't even allow mention of the word covid but my post wasn't pulled and I only wanted to know if the symptoms were those of A F. It was later that my GP made the connection with the booster. So maybe people just didn't know. Lets face it not that much has actually been absolutely proven about effects of the vaccines
I have had all 5 vaccines and every time I had episodes of AF. Not too bad after the first 2 AZ then after my 4th one I was having to take Flecainide almost daily. I had my 5th jab and it has taken 4months to be back in Sinus rhythm. I had a long chat at my local vaccine clinic re the Spring booster and advice was it is up to me if I want the 6th one.At the moment I will pass but will see if GP has any thoughts .
Take care , Jackie
That's my feeling right now. I had never had rhythm problems at all up to the booster apart from a few random ectopics but I did have a heart attack in 2018. I haven't needed any medication except aspirin and a statin so this came out of the blue. I suddenly felt very tired and breathless so I checked my BP which showed erratic beats every time so I had a 24 hour holter monitor. The electrodes fell off after 8 hours but in that time there were thousands of erratic beats. I felt dreadful until it gradually eased off and stopped. Nothing since. GP eventually gave me tablets but it had stopped by then.
Thst Vax is the cause for alot of problems, and we will see more as time passes ... I have seen it with my own eyes and heard stories and seen videos. There us a bunch of people coming forward with injuries and severe adverse affects now too.
I appreciate the freedom to discuss the pros and cons of the virus and the treatments. We continue to add to our knowledge.
A young friend of mine (early 40s?) completely lost the hearing in one ear after her [Pfizers, I believe]. She recovered with hyperbaric chamber treatments. She did not get AF. A nurse who now works with the vaccine injured says most of the damage she sees is from the shoulders up.
My own tinnitus seems to be related to my autoimmune condition (Meniere's Disease) which has ramped up since my Pfizers. My hearing aids help minimize the ringing.
A recent Danish study shows a marked difference in vaccine compositions. For the people who got two doses of Pfizer, their occurrences were linked to the batch number of the product. The doctor reporting says further investigations of this lot-to-lot variation need to be one. This intrigues me since the reactions to the shots have varied so widely.
In other news, Pfizer has added 600 f/t employees to handle the volume of reported adverse events. I remember in the beginning there was an alert on one of the vaccines' vials saying to be ready, they would need a lot of help with the reactions.
The inability of Pfizer to get a grip on their manufacturing process and produce a consistent product is a factor that should have led to the vaccines being withdrawn . Right from the beginning there was an issue with the integrity of the mRNA . In the clinical trials the integrity of the mRNA was 75% + . When the demand for authorisation to the EMA was made the integrity of the mRNA for mass vaccination was on average 55% with some batches below that. The EMA tut tutted and said this was not good enough but there seems to be no evidence that this has been rectified.
Pfizer did the jab trial on 21,000 people. No reports of tinnitus. Palpitations were reported but less than 1 in 1000, same as the reported myocarditis.
Trial side effects were noted more in 12- 15 year olds than in adults.
So Jab 10 million could give up to 10,000 with palpitations, (or myocarditis)
Side effect figures off the jab package leaflet 'Information for the user'
