Had bit of a chesty/asthmatic cough since cryoablation just over a week ago. Have been awaiting improvement, but none yet. Anaesthetist said beforehand that a few get pneumonia due to Trans Oesophageal ECG thingy. I'm a bit prone to pneumonia, and serious infections kicked off AF bigtime in the past, so I'm keeping a slightly nervous watch for that. Anyone else have such experiences?

Post-ablation chesty cough
Yes I had a cough and the feeling that there was just not enough air in my body even though I was breathing OK. I had a chest x-ray to mack sure everything was OK and was fine. I think it was a result of the general anesthetic although I to had the Trans thing shoved down my throat. It was a good few months before I felt OK. Trouble is, my breathing after the first ablation with a local anesthetic was noticbly brilliant which made what followed the second, concerning.
~Hi FortescueAm 4 days post cryo-ablation (PVI) & noted chesty-ness too with general tightness day after.
Was slightly asthmary also - make sure I clear all secretions as prone to respiratory issues.
Breathe into special gadget (supplied by my cardiac physio some years ago) which opens airways to enable better breathing thus clearing any potential secretions/phlem building up.
Inhalations help + a wee rub of old fashioned vix vapour rub on chest.
Been gauging color & thus far OK - keeping off any sugar, drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep. Determined to do well in my recovery
Hope that helps - good luck ~
I had dry cough which lasted months, not chesty. I am prone to pneumonia but thankfully I was ok. Did the Physio give you breathing exercises? They always used to after GA but I had sedation for both ablations but I still did the breathing exercises which I believe really helped - still do them.
Haven't had Cryro, mine was RF ablation and I coughed for 3 days afterwards. Also couldn't take a full breath. I reckon it's irritation to the oesophagus and diaphragm. Hopefully it'll calm down. Doing the breathing exercises is a good call.
