Well had it done yesterday, they used heat this time , I had an episode whilst under that was bad and they used flecainide intravenously to calm it down, don’t know if it will be ok this time but I’m positive. I feel better after this one than the last as my body feels better. Was put on private health ward and loved it. That was a surprise. 🤞this time will be ok as consultant said he won’t ablate again and I will have to live with it but I’m not happy with that answer and will probably push for more if it comes to it.

Glad it's all over for you and I hope it will be successful.

I've had three ablations and then my EP said he wouldn't perform anymore as some people didn't benefit from them (he said that after my second one too and must have forgotten). Well surprisingly, like you do now, I felt so much better after my third one and haven't had any crazily high rates since. My heart rate now flits between 60 and 90's. To be honest I feel ok so don't really check what it's doing that often. I think changing my diet to a natural additive free one really helped too.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you , I have noticed I have burn marks on my skin where the shock pads go but when I asked if they had shocked me the nurse said no, I’m now wondering if my heart stopped or something, I didn’t ask consultant just a nurse on the ward , she looked at notes but said it wasn’t on them so I confused.

Before I left hospital I had a good look at the notes that are kept at the bottom of the bed. I saw that I'd been cardioverted a few times during my last ablation which was under a GA.

You would think they would have told me, I’m calling up tomorrow to ask.

You can find put from your GP in due course. Concentrate on feeling well. If they cardioverted it would've been to stop the AF.

Hi, oh ok , I was worried that my heart stopped or something. I feel better this time around, don’t know why but I’m not rushing back to doing things to soon this time.

My EP told me that my heart was "irritable" and they had to do 4 cardioversions during the ablation.

Hi, I’m still shocked my AFIB episode during the anaesthesia was as bad as it was.

Yes, I was surprised and concerned when I was told.

🙂 Sometimes this is best unless symptoms occur. Live life, be happy !

Jean, you and I have similar symptoms though I have not had an ablation, only CV.

Apology if I previously asked, do you still take rate control or arrhythmic medication ? I take metoprolol and my HR is about the same as yours.

I take 2 X 75mg Flecainide and 2 X 12.5mg Metoprolol. Yes, it took a lot of years before I could push thoughts of AF from my mind. So much better to do that.

OK well done, now rest and keep reading the recovery fact sheet. Remember first week TV remote only but week 2 you can make some tea.

Thank you, I’m not driving or going anywhere for a week and will take it easy after that.

Well done you! It's great your body feels differently this time. Maybe your heart kicked off during the procedure because it didn't appreciate being disturbed! Way to go now with the healing process but it sounds positive. I wouldn't worry about the "can't do another one" - that's one person's opinion and assessment of risk factors. Another consultant might well take a different view. Concentrate on looking after yourself right now. Sofa, TV remote, more Netflix and soothing music 🎶 Keep us posted

Thank you, I think last time I felt worse after and rushed back to normal life after 3 days so this time I’m not doing that. I was thinking the same thing about another ablation if needed , it is just his opinion but I’m hoping I don’t need anything else .

You're kidding me - after threw days??? I was a mess for 3 weeks! Still, the medics do not always advise is well on this and we are all individuals. I've seen people.here say they took a couple of days off and were totally fine. I think your positive attitude will really help this time plus listening to your body.

Hi, yes even though I felt better this time I am staying in and doing nothing for a week and then just slowly slowly.

Glad it went well. I think it's better to have general so they can just get on with it without the chance of you moving and groaning! I think we should all at least have the choice

Private ward eh!

Yes I think it needs discussion if this is not as successful as desired.

Best wishes

Thank you, I just wondering why did they do cardio version, was it because of the AFIB episode I had whilst under because the nurse said they had trouble controlling it or did my heart stop. I had to Google a lot of the doctors notes and it looks like I’ve git some scarring and enlarged parts of the heart so not happy about that.

Huh ! Wish we could be kept informed by medics I hope you get some answers when you have your follow up!

Take it easy for now xx

I was cardio verted twice after my recent RF ablation, I only knew that because I heard the recovery nurse say when she was handing me over to go back up to the ward. It was mentioned in the letter I received a few weeks later though. In that letter, the ep said that he needed to do it to get me back into rhythm. I definitely had the pad marks to show for it too.

Hi, I know my skin is red and itchy and sore where they put the pads.
