Spoken to GP at length this morning regarding this awful fatigue I am suffering from, and how awful I’ve felt since starting Amlodipine. He agreed reluctantly that as I’ve been slightly better since stopping Amlodipine a week ago he would remove it from my prescription, but has increased Cozar (Losartan) by 25mg. He is also checking bloods including markers for heart failure, B12 along with lots of others, which is good. He did point out along with others on here that side effects of all drugs I take is fatigue as is the condition itself. He would not be moved on me swapping Bisoprolol which I’ve taken for years to Nebivolol , neither did he think I had sleep apnea as on questioning he seemed to think I would know plus I sleep soundly all night, only waking once for bathroom. I didn’t pursue it as thought I’d better quit while I’m ahead. Will update you if bloods show anything of significance . Thank you all for your input.

HiThanks.

One of the side effects of AF is fatigue. So needs to be Controlled in the H/R route.

Your B12 if you are older I read should be at 1,000. I keep mine at 500.

Do you show any inflammation in your body. Arthritis etc?

It is important to get exerting yourself at least once a day. Have a thick one pillow or two he said.

Snorers are questioned about sleep apnoea. Sleep on your left side as it rests your heart.

cheri JOY

I look forward to any improvement. Any stains stop at 75.

My GP would have swapped me to nebivolol, but he convinced me there would be no difference.

More or less what was said to me. I wonder if it’s because Nebivolol is more expensive.

I questioned my GP about that as he is rather a friend as well as a doctor and he assured me that wasn't part of his reasoning. I do feel that the effects of beta blockers are general and across all kinds, even if each one has its own effects. I have a feeling that the fatigue, for example, is because the heart's "demand" output is being reduced by the drug, rather than its being a side effect of the drug per se, if that makes sense.

Totally understand this reasoning Pipman.

Hi, I've got sleep apnea, never snored, always thought I slept well, but increasingly felt tired. So they put me on a night monitor and turned out I stop breathing while asleep so it was quite chronic.

I'd ask for the monitor, its only for one night no bother, better to check. Sleep apnea is a bugger causes AF, high BP and because you are not getting right kind of sleep your body doesn't recover properly so problems like arthritis or any illness are made worse.

Thank you for your reply. I will broach the subject with GP again if nothing improves subject to blood results.

Regarding Nebivolol it made a lot of difference to me when I swapped from Biso. On two of my visits to Cardiac appointments I had requested the change because I have breathing problems, they refused. I eventually persuaded my GP to change me to Nebivolol. My breathlessness improved dramatically. About 4 weeks after starting them I also realised that the fog as we call it had lifted, I felt much more alert and I had more energy. I would not go back to Biso.

Thank you Cassie I am sure you are right, but my GP would not be moved on it. I suspect it’s to do with it being more expensive.
