Iv done the same thing too. Iv had myself dead and buried 3 times in last 7 years because of some stuff Iv read.? On a recent visit to the toilet I noticed the water was dark red, really dark red. So I jumped on google and diagnosed myself with kidney failure due to my AFIB. So out came my funeral plan again then I remembered the full jar of beetroot I had shovelled away 3 hours earlier.!!!!!! Back went the funeral plan till next time.?

Hi Bob as an experienced poster on this forum i would value your advice re my heartbeat after three ablations, the last on in october 2020 was pace and ablate. The last one was advised by cardio at broadgreen as no improvement after procedures ,yesterday bpm dropped to 32bpm for 2hours and as pacemaker is set to a minimum of 60 bpm was sent to halton urgent care for tests.During the tests bpm dropped once but they were unable to capture it as printout.Dr at halton said no input from pacemaker and sent for xrays which showed no disconnection.halton foned cardio at broadgreen who said if they capture the drop in bpm to ambulance me to them. After 3 hours of further ecgs and heart monitor no occurance and boadgreen then said will fone me with urgent outpatient appointment today.Just dont understand whats going on with heart.Sorry its a long post but a bit worried cheers Harry

HI Harry, sound to me as if your PM isn't kicking in as it should do. Not me firedl of expertise to be honest but you need to speak to your PM clinic I think as a rate that low for two hours shows it is not working. .

Everyone’s normal is slightly different but the definition is 60-120 but many people, especially very fit people, will have a resting HR in the 40’s. Now when my HR got that low, which it often did at night, I really didn’t feel well and my heart would flip into AF. Pacemaker fixed that.

Knowing your β€˜normal’ range will give you confidence to realise when something is wrong but more than anything - listen to your body - which is really good at sending you signals as to when something is wrong.

Best wishes.

Hi Hazel - it's so easy to become fixated with what your heart's doing I was the same after being diagnosed with SVT. I was started off with Bispoprolol on a low dose but it didn't 'fix' the SVT so after first Cardiology appointment I mentioned this and was started on Sotalol which tends to keep it at bay but I still get odd 'flutter' and 'lurch' I also mentioned to him that I was concerned about my BP/Pulse. My BP can be all over the place during the day whether I am resting/being active but my pulse sits at 41 [lowest] and to around 57 when active which I still think is too low and I am tired all of the time but putting it down to the medication but he seems to think that this is ok. Like you I did my own research via internet and according to what I read I go from Hypertension to Hypotension according to my own blood pressure readings. I have another appointment next Tuesday so will be bringing this up again, but I have stopped being so 'obsessive' about what my BP/Pulse is doing.

Sounds good, my watch says yesterday my resting HR was 62 and average HR was 72, minimum 54 and max 103.

My heart rate rarely rises above 60bpm and normally rests at around 40-45.

My EP says it is slow but to be honest it has been like this for over 3 years and I am feeling fine if a bit slow walking any distance.

Your rate sounds spot on.

Hi Hazel :-) my heart rate due to betablockers is usually in the low 40's . It doesn't cause me any problems except when I have the strange episodes with ectopic that I had for the last few days. I think what cause the problem for me is the ectopic and wild swings of heart rate and blood pressure, that makes me feel dreadful with a variety of symptoms . My BP is usually good.I feel ok today but don't want to speak too soon.

I have come to the conclusion my heart gets 'irritable' under certain circumstances ( medication/a virus /an episode of P-AF) but for me I know that given time it goes away and the best thing I can do is to accept that and rest and be calm until it does.

A word of advice if I may , when you get the ectopic episodes and are sitting down, try not to lean forward instead sit back and drop your shoulders and straighten you spine. This gives your heart and lungs 'room' and will help to relax you.

Doodle that is so right about posture and the not leaning forward. I have gone into afib just by sitting having coffee at a table in a restaurant and leaning over reading. Also on another occasion I was rummaging about in my bag looking for keys and ending one going straight into long bout of fast afib. what causes this?

Dr Google is not always the expert in the required field. 😊. My resting pulse used to be around 55 during the day ........ if only it was now.

I think the only reason I looked it up was my heartbeat has gone from one extreme to another in a matter of a week and the difference in 110 to 50-60 is probably a lot less stress on your heart but hey ho we are never happy πŸ˜‚

Sounds good to me. 57-59 during the night or while at rest is normal for me too during the day it can be anything depending on what I am doing all I do is try to keep it under 120 when I am in the gym. I would say that doing normal household things during the day it goes up to the 80 - 90 mark sometimes a little over it always spikes when I get up and then after eating and drinking which is normal and then settles back down. I have a fit bit and looking at the graphs on the iphone it's up and down all the time.

What’s a gym πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚just kidding I’m a brisk Walker , yeah I’m just getting the gist of this 😊

No worries there. When in NSR ( which is most of the time) my overnite HR falls to around 53 - 55 bpm. Daytime is around 65 to 67, when I'm at work driving buses its around 72 to 75.

I'm content that I can get a reading at all.
