I have just been prescribed Amoxicillin Antibiotics for a tooth infection 500mg to be taken 3 times a day for 7 days. I had an ablation in January 2019 which was successful, my worry is the antibiotics are making my heart beat so fast I can see it through my clothes! it is Saturday so doctors and dentist are closed, what shall I do?

Definitely speak to a pharmacist today. I had the same problem with Erithromyacin. Half an hour after taking each tablet my heart was racing. Is there a similar pattern for you?
I had Erithromyacin too and the side effects in the pamphlet said it was contra-indicative to some heart tablets. The locum doctor had made an error. I have had amoxicillin many times since and that is fine. It is probably the tooth infection that is causing the heart thumping
I wasn’t on any beta blockers at the time. In fact, the first episode of AF was due to the erythromycin. I collapsed and finished up in hospital. I was told that the erythromycin damaged the electrics in my heart. Hence I have had PAF ever since.
I have had amoxicillin many times and it is supposed to be fine for afib. Probably your tooth infection causing it, but give 111 (if you can get through with how busy they are at the moment because of the virus) or call your pharmacist to make sure. Feel well soon
I was told by an MD that Clindamycin was the drug of choice for an infection and it knocked it out. First started on Keflex and it didn’t do a thing. And my dentist was in denial about it and wouldn’t order it for me . He was out of the loop by then anyway. ie; too old to be practicing. And he left me in a lot of pain needlessly. Hope this helps ya. Sarah from San Diego
