On a recent visit to electro cardiologist he gave me choices as to how to possibly improve problems with my afib.
A hybrid ablation was one of the choices, My pacemaker shows that I am in a fib approximately 76% of the time. I have had one ablation. Medications have not been successful for me.
One of the other choices was to oblate the AV node, third choice was to have another regular ablation, which he seem to think may not be very successful .
Would like to know if any of you had success with a hybrid ablation?
Thanks

Just passed four years AF and drug free, I had a hybrid ablation after one year of persistent AF and several years of undiagnosed paroxysmal AF. Check out my posts.
Hi. My EP is suggesting this for me and I’ve not been able to find out much about it, so I’m grateful for your response and all your posts. Thank you, wishing you continued good health!
Thank you. It’s PVI and wall I that’s being suggested so the report that wall isolation has produced no better outcomes is interesting! I’ve signed up for medscape updates now.
Lower down page 1, the Converge trial compared hybrid ablation to standard RF. The hybrid ablations achieved somewhat better results but the hybrid arm had 8 out of 102 major adverse events compared with none in the RF arm. That would be far too high for me, plus there are other issues with the trial.
