I've posted before about my ongoing issues, 2 ablations in 2019, flecaininde made things worse after a few years and my AF burden has been on the increase since mid 2024.
So I am investigating the hybrid approach. If you google for "Efficacy and safety of hybrid epicardial and endocardial ablation versus endocardial ablation" that study shows HA being more effective, but still means 28% of the operations were not affective.
Primary effectiveness was 71.6% (68/95) in HA versus 39.2% (20/51) in CA (absolute benefit increase: 32.4% [95% CI 14.3%–48.0%], p < 0.001)
So wondering if there are sufferers on here who have had the hybrid ablation but still suffer with AF?

Hi. My third ablation, in 2221, was a hybrid + LAA clamp. It was recommended by my EP who shared the procedure with a surgeon.
I was in NSR while I was on amiodarone, then back to AF, and in 2023 also AFl. Im not sure how they measure success as I didn’t have any hospital follow up until my second A&E visit.
I’m now in a permanent mild arrhythmia controlled by bisoprolol and digoxin, managed by my GP. I don’t regret having the procedures, it was worth a try!
I had a hybrid ablation in May 23. Following this I had 8 glorious months of nsr. Unfortunately I got pneumonia which triggered Af since then I’ve had several af episodes. However bar the initial episode all have been short lived and terminated without the need to visit A&E.
I don’t for 1 minute regret undergoing a hybrid ablation, obviously I wish it had been 100% successful and that the EP at my local hospital had been onboard.as this who I’ve been referred back too. I’d say our relationship is cordial at best.
Hi, Yes I've had the hybrid ablation which unfortunately only lasted a couple of months this was 2023, then in February this year I was offered a last chance shock ablation which lasted a couple of weeks. I have now been signed off by the surgical team and am living life to the full backed up with bisoprolol and digoxin. Was it all worth it? Oh yes.
