First things first Snowball but I know everyone here will sympathise with you and your son having to deal with these health issues so young. We are not medically trained and we have to bear in mind that we are all different and that because your son is young, there may be factors which make his position a bit different than most. If you read the factsheet below which explains in detail all aspects of recovering from an ablation you will see it can take well in excess of 3 months for the scar tissue to form and prevent the rogue impulses from occurring. Therefore, it is far to early to say that the ablation has failed. Regarding the number of ablations anyone can have is dependant on issues relating to the individual concerned but very often the main concern is that excessive tissue scarring can cause the muscles to harden and prevent them from functioning correctly. Latest developments mean that the delivery of the energy used to cause the scarring can be more carefully controlled so even this is becoming less of an issue. Hopefully your son will continue to recover well and we all wish him and you the best of luck......hope this has helped.

Hi Snowball

So sorry to hear about your son.

My advice.. don't despair, having an episode of SVT following an Ablation does not mean the procedure was not a success. You must accept and expect to have "weird goings on" for a while post Ablation as many on here will testify. My answer to your query..

As many as it takes to get the job done. Some on here have had multiple ablation (six or seven)

Hopefully your son will not have to have any more and give it time to heal. There are some really good fact sheets available explaining pre and post Ablation. Meantime try and stay positive. Things will improve. Please keep us posted and don't hesitate to ask. There are some exceptionally talented people on here with a wealth of experience.

Hugs to you both.

Mo

Thankyou Maureen this is reassuring x

I think you will find many members with SVT on the sister forum Arrhythmia Alliance, here on HealthUnlocked . Perhaps worth posting there. Activity on that site is less than here, but if you get no answers straightaway, put SVT in the search box there, you will come up with plenty of names. You can then send a “Chat “ message (top of page).
