Covid vaccine and AF

I promised to get back to the forum regarding all the concerns around this subject. Arrhythmia Alliance have produced a 20 minute video conference/Q and A session between our CEO Trudie Lobban and two experts including Matt Fay who many will have met at HRC This will be available for public consumption within a day or two but I have seen a preview. What you need to know is that anticoagulation does not preclude having the vaccine and that for now at least the Pfizer vaccine is not reccomended for people who have to self inject adrenaline for serious allergies. Other than that just have it when available and hope one of the other two is OK for those people when approved.

Watch out for the announcment in due course. .

So much the same as we thought, as any injection, if you have allergies or prone to adverse reactions, then caution is advised until its more clear what other types of vaccines coming available offer in the way of lesser chances of an immuno response. 👌

Thanks Bob that sounds like it will be very helpful when available. There is a lot of emotive information around on the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine & others. So I will not be first in the queue and will also still be careful afterwards as what I heard last was that they still need to confirm with more substantive data at what level it stops you getting the Virus or transmitting it - the 95% figure quoted has been described as not reliable but just the first simple test figure, which needs further analysis.

The best advice for my money is build your immune system by eating well, sleeping well, exercising well, keeping busy and make sure your vitamin C & D3 are topped up.

Hi Bob, thanks for all the interesting information. I get the impression reading some articles that the vaccine may cause blood to become "stickier", which I presume means more co-agulated. Do you think it would be worthwhile / safe therefore for people with AF and on Warfarin to slightly tweak up their dosage for 3 or 4 days following the vaccination to help the blood maintain its required anticoagulation and INR result?

No . Nothing like that advised in the video. Not sure where you got that info anyway. Yes covid can cause blood to clot more easily but no reason for the vaccine to. So long as INR less than 4 no problems.
