Pfizer vaccination and AF

I had a Covid Vaccination on Monday which I think triggered the longest attack of AF I have had for ages. I am ok now but very washed out. Has the Covid vaccine caused palpitations fo anyone else? Not having a vaccine again!!

Although many have been affected by it "HealthUnlocked" will not allow it to be discussed, it is very much a taboo subject🙄

There’s been quite a few threads on this forum which are only closed if there is any unpleasantness, which unfortunately happens eventually, rarely are the threads removed though. HU do not moderate these forums so you will find a wide difference of tolerances on each forum - some will not tolerate anything about COVID or vaccines whilst others will to a certain extent.

I think it such a shame that people become unpleasant about difference.

JayDJ profile image
JayDJ in reply toCDreamer

It is not what I have seen ie a poster turns up and says "I've just been scared by something that has been said", the next minute the post is removed.

CDreamer profile image
CDreamer in reply toJayDJ

Seen that on the BHF forum where there is complete ban, not on the AF forum unless it becomes argumentative and rude.

What is this all about then (only today) ie shut down.

Telegraph: People injured or bereaved by Covid vaccines ‘speak in code online over censorship fears’

CDreamer profile image
CDreamer in reply toJayDJ

That is certainly the case and refers to a handful of medics who have questioned why this vaccine has been sanctioned without meeting the safety criteria all other vaccines have had to comply. It seems freedom of speech is at risk. It is my belief that we should always question everything as that is the only way we learn and improve - it maybe that the vaccine was of benefit when this SARS virus was novel but is it now? Benefit : risk and we need freedom to question and debate.

It should not become a divisive issue but fear drives behaviour and it is a reckless driver!

Why?

Why was it shut down ? Other than that I'm not sure what you are asking.

Yes and I am not having any more boosters either. Mind you had 2 doses of COVID in 2021 and last month.

I am just getting over my first infection of covid which was more like flu apart from I lost my sense of smell. Didn’t have the spring booster and will think carefully about autumn one. Will have my annual flu jab though. Had a lot of reaction to earlier boosters and as heart is settled think it may be best to leave it alone.

booked in for booster + flu vaccine in 2 weeks - I’ll let you know how it goes.

Won’t get stressed out about it as that could bring on an AF episode in itself!

I'm having mine next Tuesday, flu and Covid and quite expect to be under the weather on Wednesday. In fact, I would be surprised not to get a reaction.I think you are right about getting stressed out about it.

There's nothing like a trip to the GP surgery to get your blood pressure checked only to find the stress has increased it.

If the vaccines did cause problems for heart patients, you would expect it to be looked into promptly and the best thing anyone can do who suspects a link is to report it through the yellow card system.

Possibly another approach would be to de-stress afterwards with a treat and see what that does 😁

CDreamer in reply toTigger_2

So look at the number of Yellow Card reactions to these vaccines compared to any other vaccines - and those are only ones that bothered reporting.

I had the flu one two days after the Covid booster. A grumbling arm for two days but no other effects.

Hi

No reaction of that kind.

I have had 5 all Pfz..... in NZ.

The second one was not put in the muscle or I ended up with a big round spot which was red and itchy and hot.

The Dr put me on antibiotics. Day 3 itchiness gone and also the red.

So it was the mode which caused the trouble. The 5th was the omicron element.

Yes, the last booster gave me a raging attack for a couple of days. Ironically, the flu jab has done the same this year. I am not having any more covid jabs

I had the flue and Covid vaccination and had a raging AF attack too despite having had two ablations . No more vaccinations for me!,

Our cousin who doesn’t have any heart problems felt bad for about 3-4 months after her 5th

Had my Pfizer booster last week, no ill effects at all. 2 grandchildren on the way at the moment so I want to stay Covid free if possible for the 'mums to be'. Also I have a few friends with Covid who are quite unwell, being a bit younger they haven't had the Autumn booster. However I respect there are people who make a different choice.

Yes, mine last year cause 3 weeks of very erratic beats; settled down ok for months then started up again 2 months ago and ended up in hospital for 4 days. Cardiologist said my pfizer booster was very likely the cause

Sometimes the covid vaccinations trigger bad afib. I am having my sixth one next Wednesday. I was in 2 minds about it but decided to have it as l am more frightened of Covid than the afib, regardless of how bad it is.

I've had covid 3 times and had all shots. Now I have afib.

Good to see this conversation alive and well....

Our thoughts (and reactions) regarding the vaccines are as unique as our Afib and it is appropriate we are "allowed" to discuss the situation. My heart reacted violently as well, and I had serious COVID infections twice as well. I will not be taking another vaccine, and that is a purely personal response. I had clients who thought I was pro vax and anti vax simply because I walked the middle road with everyone... not encouraging nor discouraging.

Some felt safer having had it, others the opposite, so if psychology does play a role - to each their own choice.

Thanks CDreamer for focusing on how we express this issue, perhaps a real conversation can take place now.

2 covid infections (one post & one pre vac) and all covid vaccinations (Pfizer) plus flu too. All vaccinations were fine, Afib stable - no episodes. The only thing that caused a slight rhythm problem was the initial, pre vaccination covid infection; this was only temporary. My own opinion is, vaccines are good, science is awesome.

Yes, after my second Pfizer my first ablation was undone. So disappointed. The shortness of breath came right away after my second Pfizer and the AF attack a few months after that. I have since needed a second ablation. I have had to watch what my response is not that day or that week, but months later. My other pre-existing conditions ramped up as well. I don't know what will happen a year from now.

Haven’t had any vaccines since the second. Covid no worse than a bad cold anymore. Panic and fear will work wonders for making money 🤑💰💸💵

I had my booster last weekend. A sore arm plus protection from serious disease was all I got.

I had Pfizer vaccinations in December 2020, February 2021 and a booster late 2021. I had covid at Christmas that year then was diagnosed with AFib April 2022. I have declined a booster recently however I have decided to have a Flu vaccination. At the time, I thought it was the best option and I was working in healthcare, now in hindsight I'm not too sure.

Yes the Covid jab has way more side effects from what I read (widely!) than any previous vaccination. Plus its efficacy is questionable. It is puzzling to me why the medics and the Press are reluctant to talk about injury and excess deaths; the latter is subject to a Parliamentary Debate on October 20th.

I'll get censored if I say more except while I still have a choice I won't be having any of the current mRNA jabs.

The last one did for me last Aug/Sept. It lasted for 3 weeks. Started up again 2 months ago and ended up in hospital for 4 days where they said it was "Most likely" from the pfizer booster. Not AF but severe arrhythmia coming from all over the place. Paramedics were astounded watching my heart rate go from 49 to a90 and back again constantly.

southkorea profile image
southkorea in reply toQualipop

Mine went from 130 to 40. At 40 I got near to passing out.

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply tosouthkorea

Mine was so erratic they couldn't measure either heart rate or BP properly and my monitor just gave error messages. They did say that an awful lot of arrhythmias had been reported on the yellow card.

DasyB profile image
DasyB

Hi - yes - had AF for the first time persistently ( using home BP monitor) and it took me a couple of weeks to realise it started 6 days post vax. Not managed a GP appoinment and it seems to have settled now but I did report it as a suspected side effect - Yellow Card Scheme. Also had both high and low BP and some very erratic heart rate measurements. I hope all is well now.

Interesting to find this thread.... I developed bradycardia (30 bpm) a few days after my first Pfz booster 15 months ago, heart settled and returned to regular 58bpm without intrvention and I put it down to coincidence until the same thing happened after the next two boosters (also Pfz). In each instance I only noticed the bradycardia 3-5 days after the vaccination.

I have had three ablations in the last thirteen years, the most recent for flutter and AFib, and had been in NSR for two years. After my last jab, given at the same time as my flu jab, I've had several extended episodes of bradycardia and am waiting to see an EP for advice.

Of course it could all be coincidence but I'm inclined to decline further boosters; especially if my heart settles down again.

southkorea profile image
southkorea in reply toijan

I am never having another booster. I had 5 hrs of AF two days after the last one and nothing since. I have also had two ablations and apart from when I have had boosters been almost AF free.
