Hi jean, I’ve just freaked as I thought it meant we couldn’t have it, but I’ve just researched the NHS report....which just said about administering it should be fine, so what was she saying? I can’t get link as I’m in France, sue

Well I've just heard that the covid vaccine will be arriving soon and available at 50 hospitals in the UK from Tuesday. Sure France will be getting it soon too.

I've just watched the show. Andrew Marr asked the expert, who I believe was someone to do with the NHS, about having the vaccine alongside other medications. She then replied that there was special advice for people on anticoagulants (blood thinners), they could have it so long as the benefits outweigh the risk! There was no further discussion about that statement.

Interesting. When my husband was chosen at random to do home covid test (the nasal and throat swab variety, ) when he said yes and commenced questionnaire online it said NO when he said yes to anticoagulants! Did they think he would scrub so hard he would cause a bleed?I wonder if they are concerned about systemic response or local bleed after injection?? Or just lack of data??

The nhs website says anyone on stable anticoagulant can have it. So I don’t know why she said it specifically .

"Administering COVID-19 vaccine to individuals taking anticoagulants

Individuals on stable anticoagulation therapy, including individuals on warfarin who are

up-to-date with their scheduled INR testing and whose latest INR was below the upper

threshold of their therapeutic range, can receive intramuscular vaccination. If in any

doubt, consult with the clinician responsible for prescribing or monitoring the individual’s

anticoagulant therapy." I'm hoping this is the bit.

I posted a link to the section on souljac's thread - intramuscular injection seems to be the crux of it.

I have replied to soulijacs post and now seen yours. Experts really should follow through with what things mean rather than just leave it mid air. Not everyone is in a position to clue up and could be concerned or even out off by it. At least she could have pointed to where information could be found. She was meant to be clarifying things for people not causing more confusion.

Hope you get the vaccine in France soon, is it because there is to be European wide approach to roll out and of course we are no longer a part of the EU approach, just my thought of course.
