Itchy skin!

Hi all,

Just a quickie! I tend to get itchy and I assume it’s as a result of one of the medications ( APIXABAN, statin, thiamine and Vitamin B.)

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Mark. I put up a post on this very subject, a couple of weeks ago. If you search my posts you may find all the replies. I take edoxaban.....someone said that all new ones that end in "ban" can cause this problem. I also take a statin Lipitor.

Unfortunately some people have said that my itchiness could be due to my age!!

It started sometime after I was switched from Warfarin at the beginning of lockdown though.

PS Are you a cycle guide......? My son used to do that in France and Italy....(just interested!)

Thank you,

Yes looked through your posts - Very helpful as I was trying to establish which (of the four!) tablets were causing it - I guess it could still be the statins ? But I see the evidence pointing towards the “ban” family.

Aloe Vera seems to help, and yes it is usually in the forearms...although also the back and top of my head! I think it is just a question of finding a coping strategy!

Thanks for your time...am actually a Tour Guide registered with the London Institute of TG ...so mainly London based...although there is barely a tourist to be seen currently for reasons apparent!!

I just started Eliquis about a week ago... No affects like that to report. Hopefully it abates in time for you.

Yes thanks. It’s obviously subjective, although not sure I noticed it straight away so let me/ us know if anything changes...although of course we/I hope it DOESN’T😁!!

Hi, try a anti-histamine (hayfever tablet) I find they help a lot, plus cool showers. HTH

Hello, I started taking Apixaban about 2 years ago after a rather nasty Afib episode. After about 3 weeks my ankles started itching (thought it was washing powder at first but it wasn’t) ankles ok now but my back gets very itchy at night. Rather put up with itching than stop taking it though! Hope your symptoms improve😀

I have itchy skin with a relatively low dose of Apixaban (2.5mg twice daily) which I started last month due to the problems of monitoring my INR during lockdown. The itchiness happened immediately after discontinuing Warfarin which I had been on for 5 years. I am not even sure if this low Apixaban dose is having any effect on my INR.

Yes I take that and I have had some itching. Tolerable. I used a fungal powder on an area on my wrist and it stopped.

Thank you!

I have itched since being on Apixaban, could be just age and a coincidence of course. I was also on Lipitor and have stopped that about 6 months ago and the itching hasn't changed, so in my case it wasn't Lipitor.
