Stopping digoxin itchy rash
I think Digoxin gave me a rash and itching too - but I can't be certain because, apparently, it can take a month or so for it to settle down after stopping taking the Digoxin and it's only three weeks. I would say the itching is much better though. A pharmacist advised me that an anti-histamine might help - I used Anthisan cream because I didn't want to take any more oral drugs. That certainly helped.
Thanks for your reply what were you put on instead of digoxin?
I'm afraid that isn't a simple question to answer. I'm not medically trained but, as I understand it, the purpose of the Digoxin is to help control the heart rate. The Bisoprolol does this to some extent and the Digoxin helps if it needs a bit more control.
I was put onto Digoxin when I was very unwell (see healthunlocked.com/afassoci... and my consultant was happy for me to stop taking it when I was over the worst provided my heart rate stayed under control. If it hadn't, he said he could adjust other meds to suit. So I'm afraid it isn't a case of a simple substitution; more a balancing act controlling heart rate and blood pressure as needed by the individual in their circumstances.
Sorry to hear about your husband's problem. I've been on bisoprolol for over 5 years and had no adverse effects. I have not been on digoxin so can't comment on it. Wish your husband good health.
