Cold and ectopics?
Hello SalmanShaik.
Ectopics are fairly common and most of the time aren't serious (that doesn't mean you shouldn't consult a doctor if you are worried). Here's a link to read

Health related anxiety is also pretty common - certainly if you have afib. Been there - got the tee shirt. Most of us can expect ectopic beats from time to time and they don't cause a problem. That's my personal take and how I have found it pans out for me - however we are all different. I can't say just a cold has ever put me in afib or caused a problem although it can for some. Anxiety can be a trigger for afib - it's hard not to stress at the moment I know. Have you researched breathing techniques ? It can really help. Here's a link to get started - however I suggest consulting Dr Google to find out about it and find what works best for you

Thanks for reply paul, i had my Ecg done last year and its completely fine and i met many GPs regarding this and everyone say its due to anxiety and i feel awful ectopics during cold otherwise i hardly feel any
Yes, when i have a cold they quadruple for me, my beta blocker does take a bit of the edge of
Hey man, iam also in propranolol 20 mg twice per day it reduced my ectopics but i feel ectopics only when iam suffering from cold and it stays more when i think more about it. I felt ectopics for 4-5 hours in a day when iam in cold
Yeah when i have a cold i can get them throughout the day, i find sitting for long periods in a chair make them worse
I can understand your pain padayn, hope you are not in anxiety
Oh and to top it off i suffer with extreme Anxiety
Oh god, this anxiety making things worse, iam also having the health related anxiety especially heart related anxiety from past 18 months
Do you have AF or just ectopics?
I dont know exactly what is AF? If you dont mind can you give me a glimpse of that?
AF is a electrical/heart Condition which causes an irregular/fast heart rate
No padayn, my heart rate is always inbetween 60-85bpm and in the ecg also my heart rthym is perfect
So its just the ectopics than that you suffer with?
On an average how many ectopics you get in a minute padayn?
On a bad day i can get around 100 a day even more
100 a day is most common
Yeah i know people on here will be thinking 100 is that it? but i cant stand one of them
Beacuse i never calculated it but i am calculating on an average more than 1000/ day whenever iam suffering from cold
wow that's a lot that's on average 40 an hour, i know you say that a cold makes them worse but anything else you do will trigger them?
Did you ever heard about doctor sanjay gupta?
Yes, whenever I am ill I have lots more palpitations than usual and often periods of bigeminy or trigeminy
The last two weeks I have been fighting a virus (not sure if it's THAT virus but I have had the symptoms) and ectopics have been off the scale. All calm today though
Nice to here from you mikee, gives some strength though, i feel like whenever body fighting the virus our heart stress more
I am on Flecainide for complex arrhythmia and ectopics so my GP put me on Sertraline for anxiety and depression 2 months ago.
After about 4 weeks my heart was back to normal with no funny beats.
I was however concerned about the QT interval so I had an ECG done that confirmed my suspicion. Flecainide and Sertraline both increase the QT interval so I had to stop one of them......Sertraline.
Since stopping Sertraline I have been having severe flip flops in my chest. My head cold is not helping much either.
This is proof enough for me that my heart problem is due to anxiety only.
Problem is that there are no medications for depression and anxiety that do not increase the QT interval.
I can stop taking Flecainide and continue with Sertraline but I am too afraid to do so and it's not worth the experiment.
Vortioxetine an NHS approved antidepressant is the only drug that can be taken with Flecainide with no contraindications and it does not increase the QT significantly. Problem is that it is too expensive at about £200.00 a month.
