Still in hospital and being a wimp....

So after atrial flutter in 2015 (cardioverted in 48hrs), I then had a hybrid atrial fibrillation/flutter last August. To cut a long story short after 5.5 weeks trying to control it at home and in hospital I was cardioverted again following a TOE.

In December Papworth decided I should have an ablation and the wait was 2 months. As I have the bleeding disorder HHT and lost 2.2 litres of blood in two months via very severe nosebleeds everyone agreed I should have some treatment to stabilise that.

So 5 days ago I had a skin graft on my right nostril. I had mentioned I was worried about going so many houses without water (both afib/fl) episodes followed a few days after a flight so I suspect dehydration.

36 hours later I woke up back in afib. Have been in hospital ever since being pumped full of all sorts of stuff (IV flecainide; IV amiadarone through arm, the through neck!) And now digoxin. I've told them nothing ever worked before but they don't want to do a T.O.E. because of my blocked nostrils.

Feel far worse than last time, sick, very faint, very breathless and not at all brave. Even lost me appetite which NEVER happens!!!

Last time they were adamant I should be on anticoagulants despite the HHT, and this time they are equally adamant I should NOT take them even though the nose surgeon said i should if necessary.

Just gave me digoxin again but it does very little. Waiting for experts to return tomorrow now.

I meant hours not houses of course.

And current wait for ablation is still two months although I've already waited nearly three!!!

I can see that others are in the same situation too and really feel for them.

Except if you are the queen or a prince .. than there is a place to convert immediatelly .. and I mean: on the spot.

This is soooo true. Probably while they all live to be 100. THEY won't lack a ventilator if they get covid19!

But it also made me laugh coz when I saw convert I thought it was going to be one of those fanatical religious "convert NOW" messages!

All laughs gratefully received at the mo 😆😆

This is so awful for you. I do hope something works for you soon. I know all about being refractory to drug treatment(!) but of course you have your blood problem.

Do let us know how things progress.

Best wishes

J

Sorry to hear all this, it sounds awful. But I can tell you without any doubt that Papworth is

the best place to be. I had my fourth ablation on 5th March in Birmingham.

Wishing you well.

I really wish they would just send me to Papworth and get the ablation over and done with. But seems it don't work like that. They wouldn't even phone to ask when I might get ablation, I had to do it!
