I take Amlodipine to reduce my blood pressure. I read that Cialis/ tadalafil, taken regularly in very small dosage, will reduce my BP as well as combat my .ED - all obviously subject to professional opinionl Has anyone any thoughts?

They are not contra indicate with most BP Meds and both Cialis and Viagra have heart benefits. Many doctors take one a day Cialis for the benefit of their hearts and Viagra was initially a heart drug. When it was trialled in Wales it did not give as good as expected cardiac benefits but those on the trial did not want to stop taking it was arranged for them to have it continued :-)

My advice (non medical - just common sense) is always read your medication leaflets. I went into A/F 5 months ago and am being treated with a variety of medications (B-blocker, ACE inhibit, etc) and my last GP meet prescribed an under-tongue spray Glyceryl Trinitrate in case I had any chest pains. Its leaflet says clearly not to use when taking ANY ED meds as the two could cause “drowsy ness, fainting and even death”. This is because the GT relaxes/smooths blood vessels to aid flow while ED drugs constrict flow to increase pressure (hence an erection).

Best wishes and a Happy New Year.

He has not said that he has Angina. As well as the Nitro spray Nicorandil Tablets used to prevent or reduce painful signs (“angina pectoris”) are also contra indicated. It is used in adults who cannot take heart medicines called “beta-blockers” or “calcium antagonists”. Nicorandil Tablets work by increasing the blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart.

Alpha blockers often taken by prostate patients are also contra indicated.

I'm sorry, I didn't make this clear: what I propose is using Cialis instead of Amlodipine. Is that feasible?

Not really an option for BP and in the UK you need to convince your GP for the need for it. Usually for prostate enlargement to help you to pee.
