Hi Everyone, not been on for a while, it’s been a dreadful year for me and my family!!
As I’m going through early menopause, hot flushes, mood swings and heavy bleeding, because I’m on Apixaban, I’ve been told I can’t have HRT. I also just been diagnosed of having ovarian cysts and cysts on my breast in which they are just keeping an eye on things with regular checkups, because I take Apixaban. I was just wondering if it’s the same on Warfarin or heparin. Please advise if anyone else has been through these issues. Thanks in advance.
Take care everyone!!

Remember as lay people it is difficult to know what is good research and what is biased. But this is interesting. Your consultants must have their reasons. Worth mentioning though
Similar but with less blood checks necessary. Just have to be caseful of internal bleeding caused by falls, cuts, etc. But it is a blood thinner and they now have a antidote for it so surgery can take place when necessary. Oher than that They just took me off for two days before new pace/ICD implant. things going well just waiting for leads to have tissue grow over to keep them in place. take care and you should be doing ok on Elavil
I have been on HRT for years now and went on Apixaban recently. I would be very dubious about this advice especially with regard to bio identical transdermal HRT. I would query the reasoning behind it.
I don’t know why you can’t have surgery for the ovarian cysts and breast cysts. I had both and also brain tumour surgery and was and now taking apixaban (also for a time rivaroxaban - not together of course) and apart from the wretched afib and tachycardia bouts, I’m still here (touch wood). Good luck and hope you’re better soon x
Oh PS. I also had a hysterectomy eventually (best thing ever), but I have never been on HRT so I wouldn’t know about that aspect
I take 2 mg/day estradiol for menopause and I am also on 5 mg Apixaban 2x/day with no issues. Not sure why they won't let you on HRT. I don't think being on warfarin will make any difference; they would probably still say no to HRT.
