Is there such a thing? For the past several months I have been having the symptoms I usually get before I have a big afib or SVT event. Haven't been out of sr yet, but I know it's coming. So I was wondering about going ahead and getting my third ablation instead of waiting for the axe to fall. Any ideas?

PREVENTATIVE ABLATION ?
Best discuss with your EP I think. Any and all treatment for AF is only about quality of life remember.
You dont have to actually be in AF fir the ablation to go ahead.
I haven't been in afib since my last ablation 2 years ago. I am noticing my heart start to behave as it usually does when it's going to go into afib. It's not officially considered afib until you are out of sr, but I know my heart and it's behavior. My Dr. says some people do get a feel for it I will be asking about preventative care. I thought possibly someone else had a similar experience
May I ask how many ablations you had?
2. The first one lasted 7 years and the second one has lasted two years and counting. I shopped for my doctor and hospital on line so to speak. I wanted someone with a high success rate , a lasting success rate that was available to me . I had a six month wait the first time and then once you're a patient you never have to wait very long. I keep up my relationship with them , check in by phone a couple of times a year and a through check up once a year. Anything my Primary care Doctor does for me I have results sent to my ep doctor. Trying to be prepared.
I do not get 'the symptoms I usually get before I have a big afib or SVT event'. You either have an AF or an SVT event, anything else is surely a premonition. If I had known in advance of a PAF event, it would not have taken 3 years for them to capture it. I was told that you have to have lower than a 75% fix to be considered for a further ablation, I am currently considered to be about 85% in the eyes of a consultant.
Got into this thread because I searched symptoms before afib. We are all different and even in one person afib does different things at different times. I can relate to sweetiepye's post in that there are times my heart and body behave in or feel a certain way and I know that an afib episode is on its way. Other times, it just comes out of a clear blue sky.
Omg, thank you for responding. No one has ever believed me or understood what I am talking about. So I have felt so alone in all if this. I have been told if my heart isn't out of nsr then it is not afib, but it is because all symptoms are the same...extreme fatigue, breathless, need to urinate , dizzy. I know afib is going to happen soon as I have been having these symptoms for the last few months. I use my kardia and it reports an abnormal rhythm not afib or SVT. So I should call my Ep ,but I don't think he'll do anything yet. I'm feeling depressed so your response is welcome. Pam
Thanks, Sweetiepye. Sadly, though, in response to your original question I don't think the doc will do a 'preventative' ablation because (I think!) Our heart electrics need to be firing on all cylinders (more like backfiring!) For them to be able to identify and nullify these cylinders.
I would have thought, though that your doc would have wanted to address the irregular heart rhythms your kardia was showing. Hopefully that will happen soon.
All the best.
