Drugs taken for AF can cause breathlessness but you have not mentioned what you are on so I can't comment really. It is often part and parcel of having AF I'm afraid.
If you feel you cannot,do not want to wait, another year you can ask your GP to refer you out of County(I ppresume you are in the uk.Hospitals have wait. lists for everything and not all hospitals have equally long list.s You may have to ring around or people here may advise the wait. time is e.g. 6 month in their area for example. The other option, if you can afford it is to have it done privately .
Hi Nigel, not able to offer much help in respect of current waiting lists, but can I suggest you talk to your doctor about the possibility of try PiP to see if you can be reverted back into NSR. It's my understanding that the longer you stay in persistent AF, the ablation might be less successful, so worth trying.....good luck
If they can do an ablation, then presumably you can be cardioverted. I suggest you pursue the possibility of having a cardioversion, ideally seeing an EP in the process.
I had two ablations in Bordeaux. For the first one, the waiting time was one month which was basically to prepare the necessary paperwork and to pay the fees. The hospital is Haut-Leveque with telephone 05 56 79 56 79. My ablations were done by doctors Pierre Jais and Meleze Hocini. I went online and got the necessary information as well as the form to fill out.
