i’m due ablation for svt for suspected WPW syndrome in two weeks. thank you for all of your messages on my last post they have really helped me and i’m looking forward to finally getting this sorted. just have to be brave and face it.
i had two attack’s in december when all this began where heart went to 240 twice in march heart went to 220 and recently last week where heart suddenly jumped to 160. i have only ever had episodes of svt while i have had my period. i never realized this until last week. i am starting to think that there is some sort of hormone link to triggering my svt?!
we would like to have another baby in the future and if my svt is linked to hormones this could potentially cause problems. my recent attack reassured me that i need to get this sorted.
on a positive note my pots has disappeared i it was unbearable couldn’t walk up stairs or stand up without my heart pounding. i seem to get pots for a few days after an svt almost like the episode of svt causes it. fades after a week.
has anyone else experienced this?
thanks again for all ur messages. this group is really helpful!

Hi malorie, my arrhythmia problems are definitely linked to my menstrual cycle with episodes more likely during ovulation and before my period. I just wanted to reassure you regarding pregnancy, I have had two children and I had episodes of SVT during both my pregnancies with very high rates of over 250 and one episode in particular lasted over 18 hours,Although this wasn’t pleasant it didn’t do any harm to me or the baby.
I wish you all the best for your upcoming ablation, nothing quite like a nasty episode to reinforce your decision.
thanks kellyjelly for your post that’s very reassuring!!
glad your recovery is going good my ablation is in 13 days!! this group has helped me not to be so scared and worried about it! have to be brave and face it head on and hope for good outcome!!
I wish you all the very best with your ablation. You sound like you have a very positive attitude and that will serve you well through the next few weeks. Take good care and let me know how you get on, if you want to ask any questions feel free. 😊
Like Kellyjelly my arrhythmia got worse leading up to a period and would then ease until the next ovulation when it would start to build again. It got worse for a few years as I approached menopause but now I’m on the other side of that it doesn’t happen anymore!
At the time, my cardio said that I should talk to my Gynae about hormones and my Gynae said I should talk to my cardio about heart meds.
An impossible situation that Mother Nature eventually fixed.
That exact scenario has been happening to be for 3 years. Some of my doctors look at me like I’m crazy, but it’s true. My svt break through with lack of sleep from my job and around and right after ovulation. I’m going to see an endocrinologist in a month.
An endocrinologist was my last stop before I decided to just accept I fit in to a reasonably niche, uncommon group of patients - a pre-menopausal woman with arrhythmia promoted by my cycles. They might say there’s no basis for that happening but my body doesn’t lie. The endo said it was a cardio/gynae problem and that cardiac treatments should take precedence. I hope your appointment goes well but if you don’t get much of an answer it won’t be the first time that’s happened.
