This time last week I was back in my room in the CCU after ablation number 4.
Now I’m feeling like I could go out and run a marathon (but I won’t 😉). Seriously though, I can’t believe how well I feel. I don’t know when the last time was that I had a week in normal sinus rhythm. I have tiny bruises in my groin and arm but they are fading fast. It looks like my super healthy diet (it wasn’t too bad before but it’s even better now) and having a lower BMI are paying off. I’m also getting better quality sleep with the oxygen at night. I’m still on Digoxin and Atenolol and I’ll see what my EP says when I see him in 4 1/2 weeks about reducing, and ultimately stopping them. He said I’ll be on anticoagulants for life which is fine by me.
Here’s some imagery from the mapping done during my procedure. The brown dots are where the burns were done. If anyone remembers the image I shared last year, I said that it looked like a sheep on a spit. I can definitely see a dog in one of these pictures and maybe an overhead shot of a bull with its horns.😃

What great news - you must feel great! So pleased for you. I am trying very hard to eat healthy and have beetroot smoothies on a daily basis and eat plenty of fish. I am overweight since being immobilized for a good part of a year, slowly doing my walking again but I get really breathless due to my diaphragm not working right. I can see a wee bird in your pictures lol. You fill me with inspiration on all the work and self care you do. Laura x
Yes, I can see the bird too now that you mention it. Every little bit helps with diet and exercise, you have to do what you can within your limitations. I keep reminding my husband that I am not ‘on a diet’ and if I want to have a treat now and then I can do that without feeling guilty. Happy to provide a source of inspiration. Wishing you all the best x
Good for you, Kaz747! What excellent news for you, so fourth time lucky. Yes, loved the images. I can see a pack of French nuns in multi-coloured outfits playing football.
These French Nuns keep turning up everywhere, making a Habit.of it. I can see two Kangaroos on a Barby, tinny In hand roasting an Ashes fan with a cricket bat. Funny how we all perceive art different.
Joking aside brilliant news for Kaz we are all delighted for you. Best wishes for 4th time lucky.
Yes it was done privately but I’m in Australia so we have a different system. I have a hotline to my EP and can call or email him any time. I’m not sure I’d have the same connectivity with the EP if it was done through the public system here. He showed me the pictures on his phone when he visited me in hospital so I asked if he could email them to me.
Hope all stays good, you definitely deserve to, all the healthy eating, it makes you wonder how our body’s survived the past, I’m from a mining town in yorkshire & our main stay was bread & fat sprinkled with salt ! Only veg I ate was peas lol
Good old bread and dripping, eh? 😃 My mum often talks about the lard factory down the road from their place in Runcorn. I’ve always loved my fruit and veg. I’ve cut down on bread, pasta and rice and added more nuts, seeds, healthy fats, fermented foods and fibre. Little tweaks that make a big difference.
Wow!!! I’m so happy to read this post Kaz. After everything you have been through it’s fantastic to hear that you sound so good. I have always been struck by how positive you are, your determination and tenacity have been a real inspiration to me over the last few weeks.
Hi Kaz, it's great to hear that you're doing so well after the opened glad that it all went smoothly for you especially after what you've already been through.
Just wish we could meet up for another chat but I'm flying home on Sunday and probably won't be back for another couple of years.
Hope you continue to do well and keep up your newsy posts with pics, always brightens up my day as I love Oz.
Thanks Angie, it was so lovely meeting you. Have a lovely flight home and I’ll see you again, either here or in England one day.
Hi Karen, I'm happy to hear that you're doing so well! I love the pictures, too. All your good work taking care of yourself sure has paid off! 🎉😻❤️
I see a unicorn on the upper left...chewing on something. And a cow in the upper right. Bottom right looks like a really fat butterfly....and bottom left - if you stare at it long enough, the purple in the middle looks like the profile of an old fairy tale kind of witch.
Wouldn't it make a fascinating art exhibit to hang a bunch of these?? Wish I'd been able to see mine.
Best wishes to you as you continue to recover. You're an inspiration.
So happy to hear you are feeling so much better. You have been through such a lot and your unfailing sense of humour and cheerfulness uplifted a lot of people. Long may it continue!
