First Ablation - one week on

Thank you every one for the supportive comments last week.

All went well - obviously bruising and mild discomfort in the chest and a few headaches.

Had a slight problem with my BP dropping low afterwards and stubbornly refusing to come up - it was just over 100/60 when I left the next day.

No longer on the Amiodarone which is good news.

Heart rate is still between 43 and 46 bpm but no major problems with it and Drs not too concerned.

Back to work next week so am hoping recovery will continue as it has

Sounds positive other than your return to work -- In our view far too early. We say two weeks minimum rest and build gradually after that in our fact sheet on recovery. Better to recover slowly than ruin all the hard work like many of us did first time. Forget what the doctors tell you, it was patients who wrote the fact sheet from (often bitter) experience.

Thank you for the reply. I am only going in for 2 days with a day off in between and will then be off for 4 weeks with the college summer break. Am only doing admin on the 2 days in so will not be overdoing things. Hopefully this sounds a little better than just going back to work.

Are you still taking beta blockers? Just wondering why your pulse and BP is so low.

BP was up to 112/58 yesterday. Yes still on Bisoprolol, Ramipril, Rivaroxaban, Eplerenone and Furosemide.

I think if I were you I'd talk to my GP about reducing the beta blocker dose.

I wish my heart rate would slow back down to where it was before ablation. My resting heart rate before ablation 3 weeks ago was 54 beats a minute. Now it’s in the upper 60s-70s and that’s even taking a beta blocker. But I’ve read numerous places that a rise in your heart rate after afib ablation means success. And if it doesn’t rise then you usually have to have another one. But who knows?? Im glad everything went well! My surgery was 7 hours and I was done for 3 weeks. You might be going back to work a little soon.

7 hours sounds a long time - did you have GA or sedation?

Think bobs right...sounds too early to go working......I fekt normal but as time went on I did find some days energy levels drop some they are normal....it is wise to listen to your body fir the next three months or more....
