I know Mg is very important for our heart health. However I am not sure in what form we get the most benefit from it?

Hi RexH, take a look at Dr Sanjay Gupta’s video on YouTube. He tends to recommend Magnesium Taurate but acknowledges that the brand associated with the video is very expensive. I started taking it under the name of BioCare and found it effective and I’m a bit cynical when it comes to supplements but equally, I take on board Dr Gupta’s advice!

FlapJack can you get this brand in the USA? What dosage do you take? It helps with afib and svt? Thank you.

in reply toRebma

Being from the UK I don’t know Rebma. The dose is 1 capsule twice daily with food.

Mag citrate is popular here and much cheaper.

I take Magnesium Citrate tablets from Amazon as it is absorbed easily. What a difference they make for me. I have so much more energy its like night and day. Magnesium Taurate is better absorbed I believe but much more expensive.

Hi, the Mg I have been taking in Australia is called ethical nutrients, mega Magnesium. But it is has a mix of different things.

Magnesium amino acid chelate

(Magnesium diglycinate)

Zinc sulphate

B6

Chromic chloride

Selenium

So not sure if all these extra's are a good thing or not

Ethical nutrients have a very good name

I guess the other things would help if you are deficient in them. But current thinking is that it’s better to get your nutrients from diet. But even my cardiologists over the years have praised magnesium for heart health

I started on magnesium citrate which helped a little. I then switched to taurate which don't work for me. Going back to citrate

Hi

I take Magnesium Taurate from Bio Care.

Works for me and is a recommended brand.

Bio Care has been around for years. They also have an excellent advise team that you can speak to if you give them a ring. I always order mine over the phone .

iHerb is an American firm which seems willing to deliver all over the world. They sell Magnesium taurate at half the cost that Amazon sells it in the UK. If you go on their website you can click on the Uk flag at the top and everything will be shown in £s. I have had it delivered to Poland, and it arrived within two days. The postage was reasonable, but I did have to pay about £4 extra on it (VAT/excise duty or?).

Hi RexH,

I have been doing a lot of research on Mg within the past 2.5 years.

From my personal point of view. All forms of Mg will work with the exception of Mg oxalate.

The best form is Magnesium Biglycenate ,or magnesium Glycinate.

It has the amino acid Glycine attached to the Mg.

glycine is well absorbed in the gut, hence the Mg will also be readily absorbed,

Thank you.

Thankyou kyoom,

Looks like that's the one I gave been recommended in Australia, but it does also have some Zn,B6,Cr,Se, in it. The

Ethical nutrients company must thing these extra's are helpful with the Mg .

Does your supplement have just the Mg biglyinate ?

Hi RexH,

It looks like your Mg mixture has the other essential minerals such as Zinc,B12 and selenium.

These are very good minerals for normal cellular function and energy release by the mitochondria.

your form of magnesium should be best.

I have not seen that formulation in Toronto as yet.

Take care and all the best.
