The day has finally arrived!

Well here we are like the condemned man / woman waiting to go to theatre to have three heart valves replaced and an ablation. Admit to being anxious but that could be because I haven't had so much as a cup of tea and there has been a lot of hanging around. Will let you know in a couple of days how things went. Keep well x

I'm surprised that they are doing an ablation at the same time as heart valve surgery.

About a third of patients go into AF for the first time after heart surgery with most it settles down after a few days but mine didn't. As my surgeon said, the heart doesn't like to be handled.

Good luck with the replacements. The worst bit is two days later when two physio's drag you out of bed and walk you down the corridor and up two flights of stairs. They did at least have a chair at the end of the corridor and on each landing.

I have been in Afib for two years. Not only did I have the ablation, two new valves and a repaired valve I also had a pacemaker fitted a week later. This all happened on 30th June and it looks like I may be out on Friday.
