Hi all, I ended up having an RF abalation with TOE on Monday and so far so good with the heart. I have ended up some shortness of breath with a productive cough clearing Phelgm from my chest and a very sore throat . Is this due to the TOE or should I be talking to my doctor further ?

Hospitals are great places to get ill so it may be unconnected. The shortness of breath is to be expected and the sore throat as you surmise most likely the TOE but a productive cough I have not come across. If concerned do contact your GP.

There is a lot going about at the moment and many more people than usual suffering from hay fever - never had it in my life before this year but suffering badly now.

It may be worth seeing your ur GP if it lasts more than a few days.

Had same experience with coughing 8 days Productive. After googling ablasions found out this is caused from a saline ?solution that is emitted with the cauderization process which ofte over hydrates you after procedure. Your lungs are trying to get rid of fluid. I was prescribed la six 20 mg as I couldnt breathe when lying down as well. This resolved great being issue lying down and cough lessoned as days passed. As long as your phlegm is clear you don't have an infection most likely but would call dr regarding your cough. There is so much that happens after ablasio n that we are not told before procedure. Hopefully you will be ok once fluid leaves your lungs? But ask your Dr about Your symptoms. Best of luck to you!!

Hello AndyDuk, after my second ablation I also was coughing a lot with a mixture of phlegm and blood. I was told this was due to the TOE. It lasted for three or four days and then cleared up.

A transoesophageal echocardiogram (TOE) is an ultrasound of your heart using a special probe that scans the heart from inside your gullet (oesophagus). The ultrasound images of your heart are taken through the oesophagus
