My wife has had an ablation procedure carried out at The Royal Brompton Hospital 11 days ago. She is now suffering the symptoms of dysphagia. This condition, I think, has been bought on by the TOE probe that was used and that the procedure took 4hrs. She finds it painful when swallowing and feels like there is a blockage in her oesophagus. Does this condition get better over time and how long should it take to feel normal again? Huge thanks in advance!

Many thanks my wife feels re-assured as the hospital just says "that's unusual " But they are keeping an eye on her so let's see what happens over the coming weeks.
I had this after my last ablation. Felt like an obstruction in my oesophagus. Great difficulty eating. A scan showed a large haematoma in my oesophagus. Omeperazole helped a bit. But I could not eat solids for a while. Lots of soup. Took a while to heal. But she should report this.
I always have a sore throat and trouble with swallowing and indigestion after I've had a general anaesthetic where they put a breathing tube in. I should think that having a TOE would cause discomfort for some people too.
