Just a small note this Friday afternoon to thank all of the responders on here for their kind support.
Had my ablation on Wednesday, general anaesthetic due to having a TOE. My EP noted aberrant impulses from the pulmonary veins so they were dealt with.
Overnight stay and now home for rest.
My stress echo and CTCA were all good, and although continuing on apixiban and amiodarone for a short while ahead, with being in sinus and the previous tests I feel so much more certain about the future than I did before. My breathing feels less worrisome at least.
Now mind over matter and not overthink!
Once again, thank you all

Well done. Mine is scheduled for this Wednesday under general anaesethic and I've been told it will take 2-3 hours. It's in the afternoon and I will be discharged around 11pm as the hospital has a bed shortage. Already very nervous.
My advice is that if you are not confident to go home, particularly at 11pm (which is V late post procedure) insist on staying due to clinical reasons. Bed shortage or not your safety and reassurance matters.
We all have different reasons for AF; but ultimately your comfort and safety is paramount.
Do not be pressured into going home before you feel ready; I am ashamed that hospitals tend to put subtle pressure on patients because of capacity issues.
Post procedure recovery is part of the whole treatment event, and should be treated as equal to pre and during procedure.
