Gallbladder surgery tomorrow, hoping it doesn't kick off the AF

Been so busy at work I've not had a moment to think about this, but the worry is seeping in.

Fingers crossed.

I think the ablation was a walk in the park compared to this one. Fingers crossed they manage to do it keyhole

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

There should be no reason for AF to kick in. It has a mind of its own.

Yes how right you are. It will be my turn sometime later this year when they get around to giving me a date for my Hernia operation. Only been waiting 3 months and still no appointment due to being sent to a hospital that was scared to deal with me with my AF and my medical history. Had to start again.

Glad to see it is all over for you and as we often say these other things are much more painful than an ablation.

Hope you get sorted soon.

They were going to take my gallbladder out in November after a visit to a+e with heart attack symptoms. As soon as I mentioned AF the emergency surgeon said he'd have to refer me to the top surgeon.

Six weeks since I had my gall bladder removed, seriously it was not an issue and I am a devout coward. I was concerned regarding my heart kicking off but it didn't apparently and they had reassured me that they could deal with it if it happened. Had tachycardia coming out of anaesthetic but tachycardia is my thing as I have SVT as well as af but again it calmed down and to be honest I wasn't really too aware of it as I came around.

Hope you have keyhole, truly I can hardly see the scars but even if not they will keep you pain free. I didn't need painkillers by the day after.

Expect shoulder pain afterwards they said it is due to a nerve being anaesthetist and to be honest it was painful but again painkillers sorted it, I was just surprised to have pain there and was glad they told me in advance.

Good luck tomorrow you will be fine, really you will. Once you get to hospital you will feel calmer, ask for something to calm your nerves if it all feels too much. Will be thinking of you.

What is the difference between tachycardia and SVT (super ventricular tachycardia)? Different sites have a confusing explanation. My understanding is that tachycardia is less than 240 b.p.m whereas SVT is greater and can be further analysed as either atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation. However, since tachycardia is a fast beat above the ventricles can it also be defined as SVT? I would appreciate a clear explanation.

Hi all, thanks for all the lovely messages.

I was first on the list, all went well and they managed to do it keyhole. 5 incisions though , not the usual 3.

Waiting to see the surgeon and hopefully home later.

Heart behaved itself other than HR dropping to 38 BPM, but still sinus, thank goodness
