Just got home I wasn’t ill after this ablation apart from a lot of bleeding from my groin which is still playing up and we think that when they were taking the tubes out of my mouth they caught me so have coughed up one blood clot with another still stuck in my throat but the doctor didn’t seem concerned has that happened to none else?
They managed to burn the flutter and the EP checked what he had done last time and one of them had healed over so he has now burnt that too so fingers crossed he has got it all this time so now some rest.

Great to hear. After my first ablation I had a femstop on my groin for about 12 hours as I lost a lot of blood so my sympathies there. Now rest and read our fact sheet on recovery.
I'm pleased all went well, but what a nuisance re the blood clots. Can you see the clot in your throat yourself. Could you gargle it away. How are you feeling?
the first clot was as big as a fifty pence piece the one I have in there now is smaller I had two doctors look at it and they didn’t seem to be concerned but I am as this one I can’t seem to cough it up.
I was ok till I got home now I just feel very tired and sore so am just going to listen to my body and do nothing.
Rest is the right thing to do and it's normal to feel tired after an ablation. Mind you the heat we're experiencing at the moment is very draining for everyone.
Perhaps the clot you still have is where you were caught when they took the tubes out and needs to be there to heal. Don't try to cough it up anymore, or you could start the bleed again.
Make sure you drink water to wash the drugs from your body.
Glad all went well. Sorry to hear about the blood clots and hope it clears up soon. I coughed up a small one about 2-3 days after my first ablation. Caused very slight alarm at first as wasn’t expecting it but all was fine. Did have to have a femstop on the groin though for quite a few hours due to heavy bleeding. Was quite something to come too in recovery with a nurse/doctor virtually straddling me shouting the odds to others before they got the femstop on. Luckily I was still playing with the fairies somewhat to really care. All was good after a few hours. The bruise later could have won an Oscar!
Gosh that all sounds disconcerting. Ive had 3 ablations with none of those issues, thankfully, but the 2nd took me quite a while to recover from. Take your time is my advice and don't put pressure on yourself to be right as rain in the timescales they often quote. I think the fact sheet is more accurate. Also, for me, the scarring seemed to take 5 months, not 3 months so took a long time to ascertain the outcome.
Thanks everyone the blood clot in my mouth has now gone but I am still bleeding a bit from my groin which I never had a problem with the first ablation so I hope it settles down soon as I am not doing any thing just resting.is it normal to bleed still when you are back home ?
Hi Bell. I was just re-reading the replies to your post as I’m in for my first ablation next week and all the info I’m gathering is really useful. Whilst I may not have these issues, forewarned is forearmed as they say.
I see no one has responded to your latest message about the groin bleeding, so if it’s still a problem it may be an Idea to put it up as a new post. I hope it’s resolved itself.
