hi all. Checked in and ready for a Rf touch up ablation at Coventry bmi hospital with professor osman. Fingers crossed and hope this sorts the Af out.
2nd Rf ablation today : hi all... - Atrial Fibrillati...
2nd Rf ablation today
Sending best wishes to you! Hope this is all you need.
That's where I had my cryo ablation, but wasn't ' our' Prof. All very good. Best of luck Len xxx
all done 3 hrs approx. Professor osman did the ablation. He said the left vein had rejoined. He did lots of burns in that area. Said all is good now.
Glad it all went well. Now rest, rest and more rest.
Thanks over did it a bit last night went a little stroll as I felt good. Heart was fine
If your groin is bruised, just think what the inside of your heart must look like….please don’t take unnecessary risks
I agree. I felt great last night. Feel ruff this morning after all the drugs have worn off.
gonna have the week of work and lie on the sofa I think
Yikes, after mine, I could just about walk to the car that was parked on the doorstep of the Meriden . Fingers crossed that's you done and dusted now.
Thanks feel worse today now the drugs have worn off. Sore throat & tight chest
No more walkies for a few days. Sit in the garden under a brolly with a glass of something cold, and non alcoholic 😁, and enjoy the rest.😊
Deffo. I’m having this week off and chilling out
36 burns mr osman done according to the notes all on the left hand pv s
Good old Prof. Lovely fella. Only a week? I had 4 weeks off when I had my ablation and still felt like 💩. 😁. I'm supposed to be having a Cox IV Maze when I have my valve repair done. Goodness knows how many burns that'll involve. 36 sounds like more than enough.
What’s the cox maze ? Yes 36 only on 2 of the p veins. Bloody hurt
They only tend to do the Cox if they are opening you up for something else as it's open heart surgery. They basically burn scar tissue with a metal thingy (technical term 😁) in a zig zag inside and on the outside of the heart to create a maze to stop the rogue signals getting through.
It's supposed to have 80 - 90% success rate in kicking AF into touch.
Best of luck , had mine a year ago in August and only a couple of minor episodes since . I was on the table for over 3 hours so very thorough and worth it . I knew how to manage my recovery after the first ablation so took my time and apart from regular ectopics this time round I feel much more positive.
Hope all goes well . Still pondering on wether to go gor 2nd one . Keep us updated
Shooting positive thoughts your way for a successful safe day, straightforward cardioversion if required and ongoing Sinus! Been there, doing it! Sinus is fab, long may it last and here’s to research continuing to improve the outcomes. Take care!
Take it easy for a while and let everything calm down - best wishes.
hope all went well for you
Good luck for a successful outcome. Prof Osman appears highly regarded. I’m Midlands based but head west to QE Brum.
Good luck to you. Let us know how you get on.
How long did your first one last, if at all?
I went for a 3 mile walk 48 hrs after mine and felt fine. BUT, I got well and truly castigated by the good and well-intentioned folk on here for doing it. 😂 I think it might depend how fit you are pre-op to a certain extent, as to when you can start moving again. I went back down the gym after 2 weeks. But before everyone has a go, it was only doing very light weights, just to get some movement back into my body and the blood flowing again. I don't do heavy anyway. Now after my six weeks were up about 10 days ago, I'm back to a normal work-out and doing 10 mile walks. Bisoprolol prevents me from putting the accelerator down on those, but still all good.
I get occasional little blips which might or might not be ectopics, but I don't know what they're like so can't say for sure. I've had a few non-alcoholic beers as well but these fleeting strange beats only seem to occur when I have the "less than 0.5%" low alcoholic ones. The less than 0.05% ones don't seem to have any effect. Looks like I might be hypersensitive to alcohol and unlike Mummyluv, won't be able to have the occasional half I've been gagging for after all😪
Good luck Len
First one lasted 3 months. I did everything by the book. Rested up for 3 months then boom Af come back that was 2 years ago. Noe I’ve had a Rf one yesterday. The ep said there were some gaps in the left pv. So he filled all that. 36 burns it says in the notes. Fingers crossed. I’m gonna have a week off work and relax maybe a 10m stroll the paper shop ere n there
Wow. That's an awful lot of gap filling. Was that three months after the ablation or after the 3 month blanking period had expired? So 6 months in total? Anyway, the best of luck with this one.
3 months after ablation I had my 1st Af attack
Had they not kept you on medication?
No was never on tablet before.
I would request one as my husband has recently had a stroke . He had an ablation in 2017 and didn’t realise it had stopped working with a heart rate of 160 plus he didn’t feel a thing . They are talking about another ablation but we won’t agree to one unless he can continue with thinners afterwards . The clot ravelled from his heart , through his main artery into the brain effecting speech language and vision. I would ask why your not on thinners as a precaution .
Sending healing thought waves that all goes well!
Second one did the trick for Me! Recovery was easier, too. Good luck! 🍀
Thx! about a year and a half!! I still take 180mg Diltiazem but consider myself cured as I was still going into afib at 360 mg daily.
Congrats! I just had my second ablation a few days ago. Sounds like they found a couple reconnects and zapped em. I feel way better than i did after my first about a year ago when i had far more zaps as well as the wound sites hurting more. I will say this time my wrist where they put in the A line must have been a bit off as a lot of bruising and tingling in fingers, soreness etc... strangely it bothers me far more than the groin wounds do at this point. Yea take it easy! Patience, right? Best of luck in your recovery.
Thanks. Same to you. They went in through both my groins. I too feel loads better than after the 1st. Wonder why it is ?
My first one hit me hard .i was glad to find this site afterward and see others generally reported it being harder than they thought it'd be. specifically other than the groin wounds etc, i had horrible headaches and a raging fever that slowly subsided The headaches and ocular migraines were new to me and slowly became less and less over 6 or 7 months. Im really hoping those stay away. I've also noticed my heart rate hasn't jumped to the same extent post ablation this time either, which is welcome.
