While searching for a website where to buy Magnesium (well I finally purchased the usual Cardiovascular Research one but before reading the test result) I found this website which seems to independently test supplements and thought it could be of interest for you as well:
Thank you. Very interesting. Have been taking Solgar mag cit for af. But back in af recently so am now trying the number 1 on the list - life extensions - From Amazon uk.
Thank you so much for posting this. So Mag taurate by Cardiovascular Research has arsenic ??? I have thrown mine out. My very frequent..practically daily..bouts of tachycardia were virtually eliminated for the first 5 weeks of using this and then suddenly all returned. Probably as I delved further into the package??!
I am going to steer clear of these supplements and stick to magnesium oil.
Arsenic seems the main problem area, I wonder why its there and with such a low level 0.1, is it a danger. We probably take heavy metals etc in all sorts of things.
I wont be buying the one many of us have used again, re the price I thought reflected a good product, but not it seem according to this survey.
I understand many things that we eat derived from plants that once grew in the ground contain traces of arsenic (the worst offender being rice which should be rinsed well and cooked in lots of water rather than by the absorbtion method to minimise the arsenic content)
The Magnesium Taurate supplement I take 'BioCare' is produced in the UK so not on the Labdoor list . I take one capsule a day which is half the DRA allowing for the food I eat to make up the difference .
I will continue to take the supplement and feel confident it is safe and is proving beneficial .
Most of the things we eat contain something which in large amounts could be harmful, but we have to eat to live so can't avoid ingesting something that is not good for us. Some fish for example contains mercury but fish is an important part of our diet. All things in moderation and lots of variety in our diet should help to avoid getting too much of one thing that us bad for us .
There is arsenic in the environment all around us, and frequently in our food as well, so I wouldn't worry too much. The level of arsenic required to do permanent damage is, I believe, quite high, and we do excrete much of it rather than lay it down. There was a documentary on TV several years ago which showed the city rubbish from Paris being dumped untreated as 'fertiliser' on the French vineyards, including those in the Champagne region, and that mentioned horrendous levels of arsenic. Maybe another reason to avoid too much wine?
It's bad enough ingesting arsenic when you aren't aware of it but if you actually know that there is an unacceptable level, well the choice is up to the individual.
Magnesium Taurate is best for cardiovascular support. I have a great heath food store and they recommended and then my on line research backed it up. My EP thinks it is good to take it. Other types of magnesium are helpful for other body functions. I take 400 twice daily.
